    This position is for Health Plans use only. This position works with the Underwriting Manager and Actuarial team to collect, review and analyze information needed to underwrite new and renewal group plans.

    Responsibilities

    Essential Functions

    • Collects, reviews and analyzes information needed to underwrite new business and renewal group medical policies.
    • Identifies missing information and works with the sales team and brokers to gain information as required.
    • Applies standard underwriting guidelines to accurately calculate medical rates.
    • Prepares and review proposals.
    • Prepares and review employer and stop loss reporting packages.

    Knowledge / Skills / Abilities

    • Ability to perform the essential functions of the job as outlined above.
    • Ability to work effectively, independently, and as part of a team.
    • Strong organization, time management and project management skills and multi-tasking abilities.
    • Strong computer skills including excel, access, and SQL.
    • Ability to negotiate and interact well with all professional levels within the healthcare industry.

    Qualifications

    Required

    • Associates'' degree in a related area, or the equivalency.
    • One year experience in underwriting or in the insurance industry.
