    Position Overview
    The Health Information Technology (HIT) Manager is responsible for the effective administration, optimization, integration, and ongoing support of clinical and health information technology systems. The HIT Manager serves as a key liaison between clinical, operational, quality, compliance, information technology, and administrative teams to ensure health information systems support efficient workflows, high-quality patient care, accurate data collection, regulatory compliance, and organizational performance.
     
    The HIT Manager provides leadership for the organization’s electronic health record (EHR) and related clinical applications, health information exchange and interoperability initiatives, clinical reporting tools, system configuration, workflow optimization, and technology-related clinical projects. The position works collaboratively with leadership, end users, technology vendors, and external partners to identify opportunities to improve the use of health information technology throughout the organization.
     
    The HIT Manager promotes data integrity, standardization, security, usability, and effective adoption of health information technology while ensuring systems and workflows align with applicable federal and state requirements, organizational policies, and health center program requirements.
     
    THIS POSITION OFFERS A 40-HOUR WORKWEEK, NO WEEKENDS, FULL BENEFITS PACKAGE, 12 PAID HOLIDAYS, BI-WEEKLY PAY.
     
    Essential Tasks 
    Health Information Technology Systems Management
    Provides day-to-day leadership and oversight of the EHR and related health information technology applications. Serves as a primary organizational resource for EHR functionality, configuration, workflows, enhancements, upgrades, and optimization.
     
    Evaluates existing system functionality and identifies opportunities to improve clinical and operational workflows through effective use of technology.
     
    Coordinates implementation, testing, validation, and deployment of system changes, enhancements, interfaces, and new applications.
     
    Clinical Workflow and Optimization
    Partners with clinical and operational leaders to assess workflows and identify opportunities to improve efficiency, quality, patient safety, and user experience. Translates clinical and operational needs into system requirements and technology solutions.
     
    Facilitates workflow analysis, process mapping, testing, and redesign associated with health information technology. Identifies inefficient or inconsistent use of EHR functionality and develops strategies to improve standardization.
     
    Supports development and maintenance of standardized documentation tools, templates, order sets, alerts, clinical decision support tools, and other EHR functionality.
     
    Data Integrity, Reporting, and Analytics
    Supports the accuracy, completeness, consistency, and reliability of data captured within health information systems.
     
    Collaborates with Compliance, Finance, and other departments to support organizational reporting and data needs. Assists with development, validation, and maintenance of clinical and operational reports and dashboards.
     
    Supports data validation and reconciliation activities associated with regulatory and programmatic reporting.  Assists with Uniform Data System (UDS), clinical quality measure, HRSA, value-based care, payer, grant, and other required reporting activities, as applicable.
     
    Interoperability and Health Information Exchange
    Coordinates and supports electronic interfaces and exchange of health information with external organizations. Supports other clinical interfaces, as needed and as required.
     
    Collaborates with internal Information Technology (IT) staff, vendors, and external partners to troubleshoot interface and interoperability issues.
     
    Monitors interface performance and data exchange processes to identify errors or interruptions requiring resolution.
     
    System Implementation and Project Management
    Leads or participates in health information technology implementation and optimization projects. Develops project plans, timelines, testing requirements, implementation strategies, and communication plans for assigned projects. Coordinates with vendors and external partners to ensure project requirements and deliverables are met.
     
    Training and User Support
    Develops and coordinates training related to EHR and other health information technology applications. Supports orientation and system training for new employees and providers, as appropriate.
     
    Develops user guides, workflows, tip sheets, and other educational resources.
     
    Provides advanced application support and serves as an escalation resource for complex health information technology issues.
     
    Privacy, Security, and Compliance
    Collaborates with Information Technology, Compliance, and organizational leadership to promote the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of electronic health information.
     
    Ensures health information technology practices are consistent with HIPAA, applicable federal and state privacy and security requirements, organizational policies, and contractual requirements.
     
    Participates in risk assessments, audits, investigations, and corrective action activities involving health information systems, as appropriate.
     
    Regulatory and Health Center Requirements
    Maintains knowledge of health information technology requirements applicable to Federally Qualified Health Centers and other healthcare organizations.
     
    Supports compliance with applicable HRSA Health Center Program requirements and Uniform Data System reporting requirements.
     
    Monitors changes in federal and state requirements affecting EHR functionality, interoperability, health information exchange, electronic reporting, and patient access to health information.
     
    Experience and Education
    • Associate’s degree or higher in health information technology, health information management, health informatics, information systems, healthcare administration, business administration, computer science, or a related field.
    • Three years experience working with electronic health records, healthcare information systems, clinical informatics, healthcare data, or a related field.
    • Supervisory or management experience.
    Schedule
    Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, 8 am - 5 pm
    8-hour shift, day shift
     
    Physical Requirements
    • Potential sitting or standing for long periods of time, occasional bending, stooping, lifting including of patients, reaching forward and overhead. Proper lifting techniques required.
    • May require walking primarily on a level surface for periods throughout the day.
    • Frequent computer work required.
    • Must be able to travel freely in the local area; between clinics, hospitals, health departments, etc.

    Base Pay Overview
    The starting pay for this position is $68,640.00 annually. Please keep in mind that actual salary will vary based on various factors such as qualifications, skills, competencies, and proficiency for the role.
