Position Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented Health Information Technician to support medical records management and administrative operations. This position focuses on organizing and maintaining health information, reviewing documentation for completeness, preparing reports, and ensuring records are accurately filed and readily accessible.
Job Duties & Responsibilities
- Review medical records for completeness, accuracy, and required documentation.
- Organize, file, retrieve, and maintain health information records.
- Prepare forms, admission charts, and requests for medical reports.
- Compile statistical reports and maintain accurate logs and records.
- Identify missing information and documentation errors.
- Protect confidential information and coordinate records-related procedures with other departments.
Requirements & Qualifications
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Strong computer literacy and administrative skills.
- Front-office medical experience preferred; this is a nonclinical administrative role.
- Electronic health record (EHR) experience is a significant plus.
- Knowledge of medical terminology and medical records management.
- Ability to proofread documentation, identify errors, and recognize missing information.
- Coursework or experience equivalent to:
- Three courses or nine months in records management.
- One course or three months in medical terminology.
- One course or three months in typing.
- Must be comfortable with frequent walking throughout the workday.
