POSITION SUMMARY
We are seeking a detail-oriented Health Information Technician with recent medical office administrative experience to support medical records and day-to-day administrative operations. This position combines health information responsibilities with general office support, including document processing, scanning, faxing, email correspondence, meeting coordination, and data entry. The ideal candidate will have strong administrative skills, proficiency with Microsoft Excel, and experience handling confidential medical information.
JOB DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Review and organize medical reports and records for completeness and accuracy.
- Review charts to ensure required reports, signatures, and documentation are present.
- Prepare charts, forms, and requests for medical information.
- Compile and maintain statistical reports, including census, admissions, discharges, and length-of-stay information.
- File and maintain medical records and related documentation.
- Maintain logs and retrieve health information records as needed.
- Provide health information when requests are determined to be appropriate.
- Coordinate with other departments regarding medical records and health information procedures.
- Perform administrative duties including scanning, faxing, emailing, and document processing.
- Schedule meetings and conference calls.
- Use Microsoft Excel to enter, organize, and maintain information and reports.
- Proofread medical documentation and identify errors or missing information.
- Maintain confidentiality of patient health information.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES
- Minimum of 1 year of recent medical office administrative experience.
- Strong administrative and organizational skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel.
- Experience with scanning, faxing, email, and standard office technology.
- Experience scheduling meetings and conference calls.
- Knowledge of medical terminology preferred.
- Knowledge of medical records and health information procedures preferred.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to review, organize, and maintain detailed documentation.
- Ability to identify errors and missing information in medical records.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to appropriately handle confidential information.
