About this Job
One of ten districts across Louisiana, MHSD was created by the state legislature in 2003 to oversee the delivery of publicly funded, community-based mental health, addictive disorders and developmental disabilities services to our area. MHSD serves adults, children and families of Orleans, Plaquemines and St. Bernard Parishes.
MHSD is seeking a detail-oriented Health Information Specialist to support data management, outcome and satisfaction surveys, quality monitoring, and system support. This position will work with CareLogic and TeleSage to maintain data integrity, monitor health records, prepare reports, and provide technical and administrative support.
The ideal candidate will be highly organized, analytical, and able to exercise independent judgment while supporting quality improvement initiatives and providing accurate information to leadership for informed decision-making.

Minimum Qualifications
Three years of experience in medical records or as a patient coder; OR
Two years of experience in medical records or as a patient coder plus registration with the American Health Information Management Association, as a Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT), a Certified Coding Specialist (CCS), or a Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA); OR
A bachelor's degree in health information.
