The Health Information Coordinator 3 plays a vital role for the Louisiana Department of Health in the Behavioral Health community by utilizing CLSH's values and mission to deliver quality and effective care to our patients. Central Louisiana State Hospital located in Pineville, Louisiana is seeking applicants for a vacant position in our Health Information Department as a Health Information Coordinator 3 who collects, prepares, maintains, stores, and processes patient information and data.

Minimum Qualifications

Two years of experience in administrative services in a medical setting.

Job Duties and Other Information

Job Duties:

  • Serves as lead worker in the physical maintenance and organization of patient medical records and provide guidance and oversight of records maintenance.

  • Contributes to the assembly of discharge charts for patients. Maintains medical records by purging/chart thinning, filing, scanning, storing, obtaining signatures, assembling of patient information, repair medical records, etc.

  • Serves as back-up and provides clerical services support to the Hospital Admissions Technician 3, which includes updating hospitals statewide waiting list by researching and corresponding with referring facilities in order to compile information needed to complete admission forms and ensures information is correct as mandated by Louisiana Mental Health Law.

  • Verifies referral packets are complete for verification of patient eligibility for hospital services.

  • Completes admission forms and obtains signatures from staff, family members or authorized representatives, and patient. Distributes letters to court, coroner, lawyers, and judges and assures legality of patients admission, as required by law.

  • Serves as assistant to Health Information Director 1 (HID) by assisting with discharge data entry into Patient Information Program (PIP), and patients electronic discharge folder.

  • Assists in performing discharge analysis of patients records to ensure documents are completed within the approved Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) and The Joint Commission (TJC) time frames for adequate and appropriate patient care and treatment and for the Director to enter medical diagnosis coding and billing in PIP.

Position-Specific Details:

Appointment Type: Promotion or Demotion. Must be a current full-time permanent employee of CLSH.

Compensation: This position has a Minimum Hire Rate of $18.75 hourly ($1500.00 bi-weekly)

Schedule: M-F; 8:00 am - 4:30 pm
