As a Health & Safety Manager, you will partner with project teams, environmental professionals, and client stakeholders to proactively manage health, safety, security, and environmental risks while supporting field operations, regulatory compliance, and continuous improvement initiatives.

Our Remediation & Regeneration (R&R) organization is seeking a mid-level H&S Manager to support a major environmental remediation program across the U.S. This role combines field leadership, technical expertise, and project oversight to ensure environmental investigation and remediation activities are planned and executed safely. A significant portion of your time will be spent in the field coaching project teams, supporting safe operations, and reinforcing our Beyond Zero culture.

Working closely with project managers, environmental professionals, and client representatives, you will oversee Jacobs staff and subcontractors performing activities such as soil sampling, monitoring well installation, groundwater sampling, remedial construction, and the operation and maintenance of remediation systems. You will support incident-free operations, project compliance, and operational excellence while coordinating with Firm-wide Security Operations to reduce security risks and address security-related issues.

Location is flexible across the U.S., with preference for Texas, Northern Colorado, or Midwestern locations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain a thorough understanding of local, state, and federal regulations and Jacobs management systems.
  • Adapt to and support client management systems.
  • Provide H&S guidance and oversight from project planning through execution.
  • Deliver high-quality, on-time support to program and project managers.
  • Track program performance through dashboards and management reporting.
  • Lead or participate in incident investigations, prepare and review reports, identify trends, and recommend resource allocation based on risk.
  • Audit field projects, track corrective actions to completion, analyze trends, and support continuous improvement.
  • Recommend process, design, procedural, and operational improvements to reduce hazards and environmental compliance risks.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain programs, systems, and procedures that protect employees and the community.
  • Support the development, implementation, and testing of emergency response plans and preparedness programs.
  • Support subcontractor health and safety prequalification activities, including review of H&S programs, qualifications, and past performance against Jacobs and client requirements.
  • Serve as a technical expert, mentor junior H&S staff, and provide H&S training as needed.
  • Communicate effectively with all levels of the organization, from field teams to Jacobs and client leadership.
  • Apply strong analytical and problem-solving skills to support H&S performance.

Here's what you'll need

  • BS degree in Industrial Hygiene, Safety, Engineering, Environmental Science, or a related field.
  • Minimum 5 years of H&S experience in engineering, construction, environmental remediation, or hazardous waste industries.
  • CIH or CSP certification preferred; candidates actively pursuing certification will be considered.
  • Willingness to travel up to 50%.
  • Experience developing site-specific Health and Safety Plans.
  • Thorough understanding of OSHA HAZWOPER standards.
  • Preferred experience in environmental remediation consulting.
  • Preferred experience with industrial hygiene practices, procedures, and monitoring.
  • Experience collaborating with operational staff to achieve HSE objectives.
  • Excellent written, verbal, interpersonal, organizational, and relationship-building skills.
  • Ability to work independently while actively supporting organizational safety initiatives.
  • Valid driver's license with no major infractions.
  • Willingness to complete a pre-employment drug test and participate in a random drug-testing program.

The base salary range for this position is $80,900.00 to $111,300.00. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
