The University of Tennessee Center for Industrial Services (UTCIS) is seeking a Health and Safety Consultant to join a growing team dedicated to helping organizations across Tennessee create safer, healthier workplaces. This position provides training and consulting in OSHA requirements, regulatory compliance, and other related health and safety areas. Customers include manufacturers, public safety agencies, utilities, medical centers, and other organizations statewide. As part of UTCIS's mission to help customers achieve their goals, the Health and Safety Consultant delivers expert guidance, develops strong customer relationships, and supports continuous improvement in workplace health and safety.
Required Qualifications
Education: Bachelor's Degree
Experience: Minimum of four years of experience in an industrial, safety consultant or emergency preparedness setting.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:
Knowledge of health, safety & emergency response regulations and how to comply with them
Knowledge of industrial hygiene skills & surveys
Strong verbal and written communication skills. Be able to communicate/identify with all levels of personnel, internally and externally
Ability to develop and effectively present training programs
Ability to develop and maintain collaborative relationships within and external to CIS.
Ability to effectively listen to customers, observe and identify; assess customer needs and translate the observations and needs into appropriate action plans.
Ability to use Microsoft as well as UT and CIS specific software programs
Willingness to travel
Problem solving skills
Project management skills
Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis without need now or in the future for sponsorship for employment-based visa status.
