Position Type: Coaching (stipend position) Date Posted: September 8, 2026 Location: Woodland Middle School Date Available: November 30, 2026 through approximately March 13, 2027 Description: Instruct athletes in the fundamental skills, strategy and physical training necessary for them to realize a degree of individual and team success. Instill skills that will lead to the formulation of pride of accomplishment, acceptable social behavior, self-discipline, and self-confidence.QUALIFICATIONSLicense/Certification: Head wrestling coach must be a teacher licensed in Illinois or complete an approved IESA or ISHA coaching class.Education: Required - High School DiplomaExperience: Required - Must have prior wrestling and coaching experience, Red Cross First Aid Certification, CPR/AED certification, Concussion certification, and USA Wrestling National Coaches Education Program certification approved. PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:1. Submits "Application for Extra Duty Position" for Administrative Review2. Obtains administrative approval to fill the position 3. Meets with the administration and reviews Performance Responsibilities for the position4. Signs "Performance Responsibilities Acknowledgment" for the position5. Acts as a liaison between the administration and the organization6. Possesses a thorough knowledge of the Athletic Program approved by Woodland School7. Possesses a knowledge of existing school, conference and state regulations and implements consistency in interpreting such8. Conducts tryouts yearly to select a team9. Establishes, in conjunction with the administration, meetings and activities for the organization10. Attends all meetings and sponsored activities11. Maintains positive relations with parents and fans12. Provides team members and parents with practice and game schedules, directions for away games, eligibility requirements13. Establishes a line of command within the organization14. Prepares students to represent the school in an effort to provide spirit, enthusiasm and interest relating to the activity15. Maintains policy, in conjunction with the administration, which reflects school values and as an avenue of public relations16. Teaches the fundamentals, rules, strategies and basic skills of the sport so the athlete will realize a degree of individual and team success17. Promotes accepted warm-up, stretching and safety techniques associated with the activity18. Teaches self discipline, responsibility, teamwork, character, pride of accomplishment, acceptable social behavior, self confidence and sportsmanship19. Provides adequate supervision at all times to insure the safety of students during activities whether in school or at outside school activities20. Assures enforcement of all school rules and regulations at activities21. Supervises students at games and on the bus and develops a roster sheet so parents can sign their children out if the parents take them home from away games22. Ensures all students have a ride home and provides supervision until all students have left the activity23. Enforces "no play or practice rule" for those students who do not have signed parental permission slips, do not have physicals on file in the office, have not paid the Participation Fee, are not academically eligible or were absent from school on the day of the activity24. Gains administrative approval for any fundraisers 25. Collects and deposits any money as stipulated by the administration, Building and District Policy and Procedures26. Exercises careful supervision over all student operated projects, student personnel, clean up and money collection for which the organization is responsible27. Accountable for distribution and collection of uniforms and cost of any equipment lost or not returned28. Submits, at the end of the season, inventory of equipment and uniforms to the Athletic Director29. Ensures a Medicine kit is always available at practice and games30. Notifies designated administrator and/or building nurse in the event of a student accident or illness31. Directs student managers, statisticians and assistants (if applicable)32. Provides information in a timely manner as and when requested by the Athletic Director and/or the designated building administrator33. Accepts responsibility for the quality, effectiveness and validity of any oral or written release to the local media34. Presents a written report upon completion of the activities of the organization, to the designated administrator reviewing the year. (include, but not limited to, the number of students involved, activities, successes and areas for improvement)35.
