The Head Women's Lacrosse Coach develops, promotes, and participates in all facets of the Women's Lacrosse program. Responsibilities include obtaining advanced knowledge of Lacrosse that has been acquired by significant experience coaching or competing in a post-secondary environment of commensurate experience; ensuring that all relevant Mercyhurst University, Conference, and NCAA rules and regulations are followed (including, but not limited to, student-athlete eligibility, recruiting, financial aid, scheduling, and academic progress); ensuring compliance with Mercyhurst University and NCAA rules by student-athletes and sport-related staff; promoting academic excellence, integrity, and graduation; monitoring academic progress, academic meetings, class scheduling and attendance; teaching fundamental skills and techniques, while preparing, leading, and executing practice and game plans for both championship and non-championship seasons; preparing, managing, and maximizing the program operating budget with established fundraising goals; providing leadership and instruction in the personal and athletic development of student-athletes; directing and managing the Women's Lacrosse program recruiting efforts of prospective student-athletes to include the following: maintaining a database, observing practices and games, hosting on-campus visits, initiating and responding to phone calls and emails to meet minimum roster requirements; coordinating team travel for competitions to include van or bus itineraries, lodging, and meals; planning, promoting, and conducting camps, clinics, and/or lessons; establishing a positive relationship with the media; establishing, maintaining, and being responsive to community and programmatic contacts; developing meaningful relationships with prospective, current, and former student-athletes; participating in fundraising, community service, and engagement programs, assigned and/or coordinated by the Department of Athletics; leading efforts to enhance the overall student-athlete experience; seeking out and taking advantage of opportunities to serve on sport-related committees; and supervising assistant coach(es).
