    Incorporated in 1965, Jefferson Franklin Community Action Corporation (JFCAC) is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization committed to assisting low-income individuals, and families, achieve self-sufficiency through quality programs in Jefferson and Franklin Counties. We are a federal, state, and locally funded Community Action Agency.
    JFCAC offers a variety of impactful programs for eligible individuals and families, from early childhood education, rental and utility assistance to home upgrades that improve energy efficiency and creates safer living environments.
     
    To carry out our mission and expand our impact, we are seeking a passionate individual to step into a flexible yet very important role within our Head Start Program - Substitute.
    This is a fully on-site role supporting daily center operations.
     
    As a Substitute you will provide flexible, as-needed support to ensure the continued operation of our Head Start program when regular staff are unavailable. You may fill in for various Head Start positions such as Cook/Custodian, Center Assistant, Teacher, and/or Lead Teacher. All positions are essential to the overall operation and success of each Head Start Center.
     
    POSITION SUMMARY
    The Substitute will assist in providing continuity of services to Head Start and Early Head Start.
     
    KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
    • Depending on work assignment, Substitute may:
      • Assist the Lead Teacher, Teacher, and/or Center Assistant in providing educational and developmentally appropriate learning activities that will enable the child to succeed, including special needs children.
      • Assist in preparation of meals and maintain a clean and sanitary environment at Head Start Centers.
      • Be responsible to assist in a classroom of up to 20 children, providing appropriate activities and modeling family style dining during all meals.
      • Assist in maintaining children's safety in a classroom at all times, following all safety and supervision procedures.
      • Provide educational assistance to Head Start children in a home based environment, including creation of individual lesson plans.
      • Attend all agency trainings as required.
      • May provide other basic support functions (i.e. record keeping, answer phone, etc.) as needed.
      • Perform other duties as assigned.
    EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
    • High School/GED/HISet required.
    • Experience working with low income families, childcare, health or education preferred.
    • Experience working in the classroom setting including meal prep preferred.
    COMPENSATION & BENEFITS
    • On-site position - This is not a remote position
    • Rate of Pay $15.91 per hour, bi-weekly pay
    • Schedule: As-Needed, Non-Benefits-eligible
