Head Start Cooks (Continuous Recruitment)

Head Start Cooks will work within the UW Oshkosh Head Start program, which is a federally funded, preschool program for low-income families.

Head Start employees have the opportunity to work with 384 children and their families every school year. We have seven centers in five different cities throughout Winnebago, Calumet, Outagamie, and Shawano Counties.

Staff wellness is prioritized through available individual/group reflective practice, Practice Based Coaching, and wellness initiatives.

HIRING INCENTIVE ENDING JUNE 30th, 2026!!

Head Start has a great hiring incentive happening now! New hires, working 21 hours or more per week, will receive a $500.00 bonus after working 90 days. New hires working 20 hours or less per week will receive a $250.00 bonus after the 90-day period.

Key Job Responsibilities:

  • Cleans, inspects, and maintains kitchen equipment and work areas
  • Greets customers, answers questions, and provides information regarding food preparation and associated activities
  • Adheres to federal, state, campus, and local food safety regulations, policies, and procedures
  • Performs routine and non-routine food preparation activities including cook to order and specialty foods
