    Head of Software & Systems Integration

    Location: Addison, TX

    Type: Full-Time, Onsite (4+ days/week)

    Our client is a late-stage, startup in the premium sleep technology space. Founded by a serial entrepreneur with several prior successes in consumer products, the company has completed its beta prototype phase and is preparing for a product launch later this year. With proprietary, patented technology and a mission to revolutionize how people sleep, the company is seeking visionary talent to lead its software and systems integration functions.

     

    Position Summary

     

    We’re hiring a Head of Software & Systems Integration to provide both strategic and hands-on leadership in all areas of product technology development—ranging from firmware to mobile applications, embedded systems, and cloud infrastructure. This role will also serve as a full-cycle Project Manager, ensuring process discipline, cross-team coordination, and timely delivery.

     

    You will be a builder and a doer, tasked with growing and mentoring a small, high-performance team and orchestrating development across hardware and software functions.

     

    Key Responsibilities

     

    Strategic Project Leadership

     

    ·         Define and implement a scalable software development lifecycle (SDLC)

    ·         Lead Agile rituals (standups, sprints, retrospectives)

    ·         Develop and manage project plans, schedules, and budgets

    ·         Translate business and regulatory requirements into detailed technical specifications

    ·         Communicate progress and risk updates to stakeholders regularly

     

    Technical Execution

     

    ·         Write and test application software and firmware (C, C++, C# on Linux ARM platforms)

    ·         Oversee integration of electromechanical systems including CAN Bus, power control, and motor systems

    ·         Coordinate firmware, mobile (Flutter preferred), cloud, and QA teams

    ·         Establish and maintain automated testing and CI/CD pipelines

     

     

     

    Team Development & Coordination

     

    ·         Hire and lead a small, cross-disciplinary team (in-house and external)

    ·         Coordinate across functional areas including software, hardware, QA, and mobile/cloud development

    ·         Provide mentorship and foster a culture of technical excellence and continuous improvement

     

    Quality & Compliance

     

    ·         Implement and maintain a Quality Management System (QMS) compliant with industry standards (e.g., ISO 13485, FDA 21 CFR Part 820)

    ·         Drive traceability between requirements and test plans

    ·         Support product validation, deployment, and post-launch issue resolution

     

    Ideal Candidate Profile

     

    Experience & Technical Background

     

    ·         10+ years in software/firmware development with at least 3 years in a project or team leadership role

    ·         Experience in electromechanical or embedded systems development for consumer or medical devices

    ·         Proficiency in C, C++, C#, and ARM-based Linux systems

    ·         Strong grasp of CAN Bus, Bluetooth/WiFi stacks, and system architecture

    ·         Agile development experience with tools and methodologies embedded into SDLC

     

    Preferred Certifications

     

    ·         PMP, CSM, or PMI-ACP

    ·         Familiarity with ISO and FDA regulatory compliance standards
