Job Title: SUPPPLEMENTAL DUTY: Head Golf Coach
Reports To: Principal, Campus Athletic Coordinator
and Athletic Director
Dept./School: Assigned Campus
Pay Grade: Teacher salary+ $8,000 stipend
FLSA Status: Exempt
Minimum Duty Days: 187 days
Primary Purpose:
To provide program leadership and assist each participating student to achieve a high
level of golf skill, an appreciation for the values of discipline and sportsmanship, and
an increased level of self-esteem.
Minimum Requirements:
Bachelor's Degree from an accredited institution.
Valid Texas Teaching Certificate.
Minimum two years' experience as an assistant coach at the high
school level, secondary or collegiate level experience.
Special Knowledge/Skills:
Demonstrates ability to work effectively and harmoniously with administrators,
teachers, and other staff.
Demonstrates ability to communicate effectively both in written form and orally.
Possesses technical skills necessary to perform essential job requirements such as email
functions, correspondence and power point presentations.
Treats all people with dignity and respect.
General knowledge of coaching techniques and procedures.
General knowledge of University Interscholastic League rules.
Preferred Requirements:
Three years' experience as a Head Coach at the high school or collegiate level.
Major Responsibilities and Duties:
- Provides guidance, instruction and effective skill sets and techniques necessary to
achieve skill development for individual and team success.
- Establishes parameters for competition and proper evaluation of student athletes'
performance.
- Submits eligibility lists of participants for the athletic activity he/she is responsible for.

- Assumes responsibility for the organization and scheduling of athletic events, including
all necessary arrangements for travel.
- Assumes responsibility for the supervision of all athletes during practice, games, and
travel to and from events.
- Develops and implements rules and regulations regarding the conduct of athletes as
positive role models.
- Prepare and submit all purchase requisitions for equipment and inventory.
- Supervise the cleaning, storage and proper care of all athletic equipment.
- Arranges all details for visiting team needs.
- Coordinates all plans for pre-season, in-season and off-season workouts for the total
development of the program, including character/leadership development.
- Promotes an athletic program that collaborates with other athletic and academic
programs within the campus, including providing experiences for student athletes to
participate in multiple sports.
- Maintains and submits records on the following: names/address of all participants,
number of participants in program, eligibility lists, physicals, insurance forms, medical
release forms, etc.
- Assists with recruitment, recommendation, development, evaluation and supervision of
assistant coaches assigned to the sport.
- Generates positive rapport with parents and booster club members by maintaining
communication via telephone calls, parent conferences, etc. concerning a student
athlete's progress in program.
- Ensures that student athletes are afforded opportunities to earn award letters, order
awards and distribute to deserving students. (Once an award jacket has been ordered,
the award must be presented to the student athlete)
- Ensures fair and impartial treatment of all student athletes, including providing
leadership development to assist with transition upon graduation.
- Maintains constant communication with teachers regarding a student athletes' progress
in the classroom and provides tutorial sessions if needed.
- Provides assistance and development opportunities for Middle School coaches to ensure
continued coordination, alignment and success of the athletic program.
- Attends and participate with sub-varsity, Middle School, and elementary games to
ensure alignment of programs.
- Establishes good media and community relations; reports all scores to television and
print media.
- Properly secures athletic facilities after practice, games and tournaments.
- Serves as director of any special events such as tournaments, hosted at their respective
campus.
- Ensures compliance of all University Interscholastic League rules.
- Aligns the program goals with the Superintendent's Priority Goals, District Goals and
Athletic Department's goals.
- Maintains constant communication with the Campus Coordinator, Campus
Administration and Athletic Administration in regards to issues related to the program.
- Ensures all teaching responsibilities are met, including but not limited to submitting
reports on time, being punctual to class and attending faculty meetings.
- Performs other duties as may be assigned by the Campus Administration, Campus
Coordinator or Athletic Administration.
