ESS Position Salary: $23.50/hr.
Start Date: As soon as possible
Summary: This position's responsibilities include general housekeeping and minor maintenance of
assigned building(s), including the upkeep of the grounds immediately surrounding the assigned
building(s), and preparing them for the next school day for students, staff, and visitors. Oversees
custodians at the building level.
Qualifications:
High school diploma or G.E.D. required; previous experience in custodial care of buildings or
grounds, preferred.
Clear criminal history check, physical, and drug test required; first aid training.
Ability to develop and maintain a professional rapport with staff, students, parents, and the
community.
Alternatives to the above qualifications, as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Instruct custodians verbally or in writing on building routine preventive maintenance activities
and cleaning.
Maintains inventory of custodial/maintenance supplies and equipment. Maintain work-related
records and prepare various reports as directed.
Cleans and preserves designated spaces, equipment, etc. in the building.
Performs ongoing preventive maintenance and minor repairs on custodial equipment, plumbing,
building structure, and hardware.
Assists the supervisor in scheduling and assigning extra time for custodians.
Maintains building and grounds security.
Assists visiting public utilizing the facilities with directions within the building or in
obtaining and setting up immediately around the building, such as snow removal from walkways,
picking up debris, etc.
Accept and verify deliveries.
Maintain building areas in a clean, neat, safe condition with the proper use of materials,
methods, and practices, being self-motivated and working independently to meet multiple deadlines.
Adapt a flexible work schedule and routine, performing duties with awareness of students, staff,
visitors, and weather conditions, primarily working indoors and occasionally outdoors.
Operate, clean, and maintain custodial equipment/tools complying with Federal, State, and local
laws/procedures for the storage and disposal of trash, chemicals, and other supplies/materials;
maintain and implement up-to-date cleaning methods, materials, and equipment.
Communicate or receive directives and concerns clearly and effectively, both orally and in
writing; use the appropriate channels in the appropriate order when concerns arise.
Perform duties with awareness of all district requirements and Board of Education policies while
modeling district standards of ethics and professionalism; implement policy/procedural changes from
Administration, the Board of Education, or State/Federal changes.
Performs other functions and duties as assigned by the supervisor.Must be able to perform the physical demands of this position, which includes sitting, standing, extensive walking, twisting, talking, seeing, and hearing. The employee will be required to work either indoors or outside continuously, depending on the specific location of the meeting or activity. Occasionally, it will be expected to repeat the same hand, arm, or finger motions many times and push or lift up to 90lbs., such as boxes of books.
