    Job Title: Head Custodian III Salary: SO 05 Min $30,720 /Mid $37,920/Max $45,120

    Reports To: Campus Principal/ FLSA Status: Non-Exempt Director of Support Services, Fixed Assets, Custodial Services & Textbooks and Records Custodial Services Supervisor

    Dept. /School: Custodial Services Department Minimum Duty Days: 240 days Primary Purpose: Supervise a nd coordinate routine cleaning and maintenance procedures of buildings and assist in maintaining high standards of safety, cleanliness, and efficiency of building operations and grounds. This position requires that flexible / irregular hours be worked due to functions throughout weekends, evenings and holidays at the facility.

    Minimum Requirements:

    • High School Diploma or GED from a school recognized by the Texas Education Agency/Texas Private School Accreditation Commission
    • Three years of experience working as a custodian
    • Valid Texas Driver's License

    Educational qualifications may be waived pursuant to administrative regulations for internal applicants.

    Special Knowledge/Skills:

    • Ability to read and understand instructions for cleaning, maintenance, and safet y procedures.
    • Knowledge of minor repair techniques, building, and grounds maintenance.
    • Ability to operate cleaning equipment and heavy equipment.
    • Ability to properly handle cleaning supplies .
    • Knowledge of painting processes and procedures .
    • Ability to set-up rooms for special events according to instructions .
    • Treat all people with dignity and respect.
    • Ability to read and understand the English language.
    • Ability to work under pressure.
    • Ability to multi-task and work with frequent interruptions.
    • Ability to use computer and district programs to fulfill job responsibilities.

    Major Responsibilities and Duties:

    1. Direct, monitor and supervise the work of custodians at assigned location.

    2. Participate in the interviewing, screening and selection of candidates of custodial positions. Page 2 of 3 revised 2026

    3. Assigns duties and schedules custodial staff based on campus needs and ensures that custodial staff is available during campus approved events.

    4. Attends to concerns and requests of custodial staff and informs administrator in charge as needed.

    5. Assists the administrator in charge with evaluating custodial staff.

    6. Prepares and submits work orders with approval of administrator in charge for maintenance repairs needed/concerns and a/c extensions.

    7. Direct and assist in the setting up of the fa cilities for all events.

    8. Implement and maintain cleaning schedules for compliance with state and local regulations that will include cleaning of floors, whiteboard, wastebaskets, windows, furniture, heavy equipment, restrooms, dressing rooms and any other areas as deemed necessary .

    9. Maintain cleaning and disinfecting logs updated in areas where logs have been placed to track custodial activities.

    10. Direct, assist and ensure in keeping all buildings and grounds neat and clean, sidewalks, driveways, parking lots, and play areas as it relates to trash pick - up.

    11. Maintain an inventory of cleaning supplies and equipment, order additional supplies as needed.

    12. Directs and assists with minor painting and touch-ups on walls and fixtures on as needed basis.

    13. Directs and assists in replacing lamps and bulbs that are located in accessible areas on as needed basis.

    14. Assist with the lunchroom set up of tables and chairs only .

    15. Complies with local laws and procedures for storage and disposal of trash and chemicals.

    16. Directs and performs preventive maintenance to ensure the comfort, hea lth, and safety.

    17. Monitors heat, ventilation, and air conditioning systems to provide appropriate temperatures and ensure economical usage of fuel, water, and electricity.

    18. Assists or Directs in making minor building repairs as needed and report major repair needs to appropriate supervisor.

    19. Move furniture or equipment as directed by supervisor .

    20. Responsible for ensuring consistent adherence to daily building opening and closing schedules.

    21. Oversee procedures for locking, checking, and safeguarding facilities.

    22. Ensures daily that all exit doors are open and all panic bolts are working properly during hours of buildings' occupancy.

    23. Inspect machines and equipment for safety and efficiency.

    24. Operate tools and equipment according to established safety procedures.

    25. Follow established safety procedures and techniques to perform job duties, including lifting, climbing, etc.

    26. Correct unsafe conditions in work area and report any conditions that are not correc table to supervisor immediately.

    27. Must be available to work during emergencies, weekends, nights, holidays and flexible shift.

    28. Must wear LISD issued uniform and identification tag when reporting to duty and adhere to the dress code administrative regulation.

    29. Attend mandatory custodial staff development trainings and any other meeting and trainings as requested by the supervisors.

    30. Performs such other duties as may be assigned Supervisory Responsibilities Custodial staff
