The Head Women's Flag Football Coach is responsible for all phases of building, managing, and maintaining a successful intercollegiate flag football program in strict compliance with National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) rules and regulations. While operating within a two-year college environment, the primary responsibility is to ensure the success of each student-athlete's recruitment, retention, academic progress, and matriculation to four-year institutions.
Core Responsibilities:
Program Development & Team Management:
- Practice Planning: Organize and conduct all pre-season, in-season and off-season practices and skill-development sessions.
- On-Field Coaching: Teach flag football techniques, develop offensive/defensive playbooks, and direct in-game strategies.
- Culture Building: Establish a competitive team culture rooted in high character, sportsmanship, and personal accountability.
- Staff Supervision: Hire, evaluate, and manage assistant coach.
Recruitment & Roster Management:
- Talent Scouting: Identify, evaluate and recruit high-quality student-athletes locally, regionally and nationally to meet institutional roster targets (typically 20-25 players).
- Four-Year Promotion: Actively market student-athlete statistics, game footage, and evaluations to four-year programs (NAIA, NCAA) to facilitate transfer advancement.
Player Development & On-Field Coaching:
- Technical Instruction: Plan and execute all pre-season, in-season, and off-season training sessions tailored to collegiate 7-on-7 flag football rules.
- Game Strategy: Design competitive offensive and defensive playbooks; direct in-game adaptations and strategy.
- Video Analysis: Utilize film study platforms for player evaluations, scouting reports, and game preparation.
Student-Athlete Success & Academic Support:
- Academic Monitoring: Conduct routine grade checks, supervise mandatory study halls, and coordinate with faculty to ensure ongoing NJCAA athletic eligibility.
- Retention Leadership: Mentor student-athletes to maximize retention, graduation, and successful degree completion.
Program Administration & Operations:
- Compliance Enforcement: Maintain strict adherence to all regulations outlined in the NJCAA Handbook, Regional guidelines, and institutional policies.
- Travel Logistics: Coordinate all team travel arrangements, including operating college vehicles, lodging, meal planning, and expense reconciliation.
- Budget & Inventory: Manage the annual operational budget, obtain specialized safety and game equipment (such as flag belts, flags, and custom uniforms), and maintain precise inventory records.
- Public Relations: Collaborate with the Athletic Director on community fundraising, marketing, youth camps, and media results outreach.
- Criminal background check and drug screen must be cleared before any candidate may begin working.
