Concordia University Chicago (CUC) invites applications for the part-time position of Head Cheer Coach. This position reports directly to the Director of Athletics and is located in River Forest, IL.The Head Cheer Coach is responsible for leading and coaching the sideline cheer team. This position will oversee direct coaching, recruiting qualified student athletes, fundraising, leading camps, developing schedules, budget management, building community support for the program, working with athletics staff to monitor academic progress of student athletes, and maintaining knowledge of applicable NCAA, AACCA, and USA Cheer rules.Responsibilities/Duties: Oversees all aspects of the sideline cheer team, including coaching and recruiting student athletesSchedules, plans, and executes practices to develop skills and techniques in student athletes in preparation for sideline cheer routinesEnsures a sideline cheer team is present and participating at all home football and basketball games, in addition to other athletics and University eventsAssists in fundraising activities to enhance spirit programsAssists administration with alumni relations and support eventsEvaluates and recruits qualified student athletes that fit within the athletic program and universityDevelops student-athletes to be contributing members to the campus community and the community at largeMonitors class schedules, grades, and academic progress of program student athletes with the Director of Athletics along with athletics and University staffModels good sportsmanship and enforces respectful, sportsmanlike behavior among student athletesCandidates must support and be committed to the mission and identity of Concordia University Chicago, a university of the Lutheran Church – Missouri Synod (LCMS)Skill Sets: Knowledge of NCAA Division III, USA Cheer, and NCA as well as an understanding of the NCAA Division III student athlete philosophyA demonstrated commitment to personal growth, embracing Christian values in a collegiate setting, exercising mature judgment, and being a skilled student development educatorStrong interpersonal and conflict management skillsExpertise in the recruitment and retention of student athletes in cheer and university settingsA demonstrated awareness of and sensitivity to diverse student populationsA commitment to providing superior care to students, including a strong work ethic and flexibility to respond to student needs outside of traditional office hoursStrong administrative skills, including related computer and technology skillsSuperior verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skillsEnthusiastic supporter of Lutheran higher education and Concordia University ChicagoMinimum Experience Required: Prior collegiate level Cheer experience and/or Cheer coaching experience is requiredPrior experience in recruitment is requiredEducation Requirements: Bachelor's degree requiredCompensation and Benefits:Annual salary is $10,500.Application Information:Interested individuals should include a cover letter, resume and references with their online application.Concordia does not discriminate in the employment of individuals on the basis of race, color, national or ethnic origin, disability, sex or age.
