POSITION:
TheHead Alpine Race Coachtakespointon organizing training for coaches and athletes within the Solitude Race Team. They design seasonal training curriculumsfor athletes and staff, communicate regularly with coaches and parents, and serve asa mentorto fellow coachesand athletesto helpdeliverhigh-qualitytrainingand performanceinUSSA competitions.Our programspredominantlyworkwith children ages8to 17(U10–FIS)inIMD Alpine disciplines. The right candidates willpossessanorganized work style,displayenthusiasm andprofessionalism,andsupport team members toexcelin their roles.This position requires exceptional communication skills,understanding ofhow to helpathletes and parentsestablishseasonal goals,andthe abilityto designstrategiestoattainthem.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
Available throughout the winter season including weekends, holidays, andevenings fromSeptemberthrough April. Additionally, available for specific spring/summer training camps as needed.
Advanced level skiing skills and knowledge.
Level200USSA certification required(300preferred)or the ability to obtainthemduring the season.
Experience as an athlete in an organized race or freeride program preferred. Competition experience at the national level is a plus.
Multipleseasonscoachingfor an organizedwinter sports program or ski/snowboard school.
Familiarity with US Ski and Snowboardcoaching methodologiesand movement analysis.
Experience with Alpine race equipment, course setup, timingsystemsand athlete drills
Excellentpeopleskills areto effectively communicate with athletes, parents, other coaches, mountainemployeesand guests on the mountain.
Havehigh standardsforsafety in all training environments.
JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Assistwith all Teams department operationsas needed, reporting to Teams Manager
Train andmentor coaches
Conduct athlete assessments andassistcoaches with grouping
Provide weekly,monthlyand season-long training plan
On-snowcoachingofthe Race Team,U10 up to FIS-levelathletesand managing effective athlete groupings for staff.
Work with the competition crew to set andmaintaintraining or competitive lanes and venues.
Equipmentsupervisioni.e., drills, fencing, gates,radiosetc.
Maintainaccuraterecords; release of liability, race forms, USSA memberships, travel expenses
Assistathletes in registering for events.
Excellent communication with parents,athletes, and resortmanagement. Fast turnaround time on communication on various platformsranging from phone andemail to teams to TeamSnap, etc.
Provide feedback and coaching daily to athletes,maintainlesson plans and logs, andsubmitwrittenyear endevaluations on each athlete.
Communicate any needs to perform job exceptionally to leadership
Mentor fellow coaches and share feedback to support their development.
Assure that all facilities and equipment are properlymaintainedand stored.
Shoot video and conduct video analysis sessions with athletes regularly.
Travel may beforraces orcompetitions. Company vehicles will beutilizedfortransportationandabilityto keepexpenserecordswill beforreimbursement.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORKING CONDITIONS:
Mountain Environment:
The primary outdoor environment requires tolerance to exposures such as cold, snow, wind, rain, sun, high altitude, extreme heights, extreme terrain, lightning, etc...
Strenuous physical activity requires excellent physical fitness and may include skiing in all possible variable snow conditions and hiking in challenging terrain with equipment.
Must be able to lift, carry, and maneuver equipment weighing up to 50 pounds, including while on skisand safely load, ride, and unload chairlifts while performing job duties.
Mustdemonstratethe ability to ski or snowboard groomed and ungroomed black diamond terrain in a proficient, controlled, and safe manner across varying snow and weather conditions.
