Hazmat Technician

An ILLINI Environmental hazmat tech will be responsible for the performance of tasks associated with site remediation, hazardous waste cleanup, industrial cleaning, demolition, excavation, emergency response, and much more. Illini Environmental Inc. is an EPA Permitted Non-Hazardous Disposal Facility that actively maintains environmental risk management to mitigate exposure to potential liability.

An ILLINI Environmental hazmat tech will be responsible for the performance of tasks associated with site remediation, hazardous waste cleanup, industrial cleaning, demolition, excavation, emergency response, and much more. Responsibilities: Respond to chemical spills and releases Identify hazardous materials, assess risks, and estimate the size of endangered areas Implement control measures, construct barriers, and perform advanced mitigation techniques Perform work in various levels of PPE, including Level A suits, ensuring adherence to safety protocols Perform decontamination procedures for personnel, equipment, and job site Package, label, and transport hazardous waste for proper disposal Prepare detailed reports, maintain accurate inventory records, and document all cleanup activities for regulatory compliance Operate specialized handling equipment, maintain gear, and train other staff on safety procedures Qualifications: High school diploma (or equivalent) Ability to perform physical labor Flexibility in schedule (varied work hours, emergency/on-call work, and weekends) Willing to travel when needed Must have valid drivers license and adequate means of transportation Must be able to pass a DOT physical, background check, and drug screening 40 Hour OSHA HAZWOPER preferred, but not required What We Offer: Competitive Pay Medical, Dental, and Vision Plans, including 100% company paid Medical option 401 (K) with Company Match Paid Time Off Illini Environmental, LLC is an Equal Opportunity Employer and does not discriminate against any employee or applicant for employment because of race, color, sex, age, national origin, religion, sexual orientation, gender identity, status as a veteran, and basis of disability or any other federal, state, or local protected class.
