ABOUT SRE
SRE Engineering, D.P.C. is a New York State and City certified M/WBE and DBE engineering and construction management firm with offices in Manhattan and Yonkers. We specialize in NYC municipal infrastructure — bridges, water mains, CSO facilities, pump stations, and coastal resiliency. This project involves full bridge reconstruction within a sensitive urban parkland environment with active oversight from NYCDEP, NYCDPR, NYC Landmarks Preservation Commission (LPC), and NYSDEC. • Minimum 5–7 years of construction inspection experience with a hazmat or environmental compliance focus
  • NYCDOT or NYSDOT project experience required
  • Experience with lead paint removal compliance, monitoring, and documentation on bridge construction projects required
  • Experience with surface soil sampling protocols for lead, including sampling, analysis, and evaluation plan preparation required
  • Familiarity with NYSDEC, NYCDEP, and NYC Department of Parks and Recreation environmental requirements required
  • OSHA 40-hour HAZWOPER certification required; 8-hour annual refresher current
  • Experience with erosion and sediment control measures, stormwater protection, and site runoff monitoring required
  • Familiarity with LPC coordination requirements and environmentally sensitive urban construction sites preferred
  • Experience coordinating with multiple regulatory agencies simultaneously on complex urban infrastructure projects preferred
  • Strong written communication skills for regulatory documentation, field reports, and agency correspondence
RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Monitor contractor compliance with lead paint removal plans, specifications, and all applicable safety standards
  • Collect, document, and submit surface soil samples for lead analysis before, during, and upon completion of all lead paint removal activities
  • Prepare and submit the sampling, analysis, and evaluation plan to NYCDOT for approval prior to implementation
  • Monitor erosion control measures, sediment barriers, and stormwater protection measures throughout construction
  • Ensure all required environmental protection measures are implemented to prevent contamination of Prospect Park Lake and surrounding parkland
  • Coordinate with NYCDEP, NYCDPR, NYSDEC, and LPC on environmental compliance obligations and reporting
  • Assist in reviewing and evaluating contractor proposals for handling and disposal of hazardous waste materials
  • Prepare daily environmental inspection reports and maintain project records in accordance with MURK requirements
  • Monitor landscape protection measures including tree protection, topsoil placement, and site grading in coordination with the project arborist
  • Support the Resident Engineer with all environmental reporting, permit compliance tracking, and regulatory correspondence

Compensation: $85,000.00 - $115,000.00 per year
