HAZARDOUS WASTE OPERATIONS TECHNICIAN

Department: Burlington County Department of Solid Waste \u2013 Hazardous Waste

Location: Mansfield Township/Burlington County

Status: Full-Time Tuesday- Saturday (40 Hours/Week)

POSITION OVERVIEW

The Burlington County Department of Solid Waste has an opening for a Hazardous Waste Operations Technician at the Burlington County Resource Recovery Complex. This position plays a critical role in protecting public health and the environment through the safe and compliant management of household hazardous waste materials.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Handle, process, and manage household hazardous waste in compliance with all applicable regulations
• Classify and segregate hazardous waste materials according to established protocols
• Perform lab packing, consolidation, and labeling of hazardous waste materials
• Ensure full compliance with USDOT, USEPA, and USOSHA standards
• Follow disposal facility protocols for all hazardous materials management activities

REQUIREMENTS

Education

Bachelor's degree in the environmental, physical, biological, or chemical sciences, or in environmental engineering.

AND

Minimum of two (2) years of professional experience in the management of hazardous materials

Certificates/Licenses

• Possession of a valid New Jersey driver's license
• 40/24 HAZWOPER a plus, but not required
