Title:               Chemist I
Location:        11530 Northlake Dr, Cincinnati, OH 45249, USA
Pay Rate:        $30.12/Hour on W2.
Duration:        0-6 Months (Temp to permanent depending on performance)
 
Position Summary
Evaluates the chemical properties of polymeric substances for a research and development facility.
This is a Chemist role for the Physical Testing Lab. While prior physical testing experience is not required, the manager would like to see candidates who have prior laboratory experience and are familiar with following and able to articulate laboratory procedures. This is critical as the lab has strict procedures that must be followed so that product can be certified for the customer.
This is NOT a research role. The role will prepare samples and perform routine physical testing on various products. The manager cherfully described this lab as "breaking plastic all day". Some tests include: [!--StartFragment--]compression molding, melt flow testing, tensile testing, etc.

His TOP must haves are: commitment to SAFETY and following required procedures. Candidate should have experience with lab instrumentation and basic analysis. They should be able to describe the instruments and tests they have preformed. This lab collaborates internally with other Teams. Needs to have strong collaboration and communication skills.
OSHA PPE: All PPE will be provided (lab coat, safety glasses, gloves, etc.)
Experience working in a lab with hazardous chemicals. Support the physical testing team by preparing samples and collecting data using a variety of methods and equipment. Maintaining a safe working environment.
 
Key Areas of Responsibility
Safety: Demonstrates a continuing consciousness of safety in daily activities and implemented in work designed.
Preparation & Analysis: Prepare polymer samples and standards for testing, including compression molding, melt flow testing, tensile testing, and other physical characteristics testing for polymers.
Operate and Maintain Analytical Equipment: Run instruments accurately per established methods, calibrate regularly, and troubleshoot issues. Ensure equipment adheres to manufacturer standards and safety regulations.
Data Collection, Interpretation & Reporting: Collect test data, review findings for accuracy, and report through established systems.
Other duties may be assigned. Works under general supervision. A certain degree of creativity and latitude is expected.
 
QUALIFICATIONS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
 
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: Associate degree or higher, or equivalent job experience.
 
LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to read and comprehend instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
 
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to apply mathematical concepts such as exponents, logarithms, quadratic equations, and permutations. Ability to apply mathematical operations to such tasks as frequency distribution, determination of test reliability and validity, analysis of variance, correlation techniques, sampling theory, and factor analysis.

REASONING ABILITY: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral and diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
 
PHYSICAL DEMANDS: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel;reach with hands and arms;talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to stand, walk, and sit;climb, balance and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision depth perception, and ability to focus.
