    Hatch Foreman - 20.00-22.00 Per Hour - HEAVY OT
    SAVARD Personnel Group is seeking an experienced Hatch Boss to oversee and coordinate marine cargo handling operations aboard vessels. The Hatch Boss will provide leadership to the cargo-handling crew, coordinate closely with crane operators, ensure safe lifting practices, and maintain proper cargo sequence and stowage procedures.The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with marine cargo operations and a strong understanding of vessel holds, lifting operations, rigging, PPE, hazard recognition, and emergency procedures.
    Responsibilities
    • Lead and supervise the stevedore crew working inside the ship's hatch (cargo hold)
    • Coordinate and direct unloading operations to ensure safe and efficient cargo movement
    • Work closely with crane operators, forklift operators, cargo checkers, and terminal personnel
    • Oversee the unloading of bagged cement, supersacks, and other bulk cargo
    • Ensure compliance with all port, OSHA, and company safety procedures
    • Conduct pre-shift safety meetings and communicate daily work assignments
    • Monitor crew productivity and maintain operational schedules
    • Report equipment, safety, or operational issues to management
    • Maintain accurate records of cargo operations and crew activities
    • Assist with cargo handling and other dock operations as needed
    Qualifications
    • Previous Hatch Boss, Foreman, Leadman, Longshoreman or marine cargo handling experience preferred
    • Strong knowledge of marine cargo handling and vessel operations
    • Experience working around cranes, rigging, slings, lifting gear, and suspended loads
    • Ability to lead and communicate effectively with a multi-person crew
    • Strong understanding of PPE and marine safety requirements
    • Ability to recognize hazards and make sound decisions to stop unsafe work
    • Comfortable working inside vessel holds and around heavy cargo
    • Ability to communicate clearly with crane operators and crew
    • Reliable attendance and strong safety record
    • TWIC Card required
    • OSHA certification is a plus
    • Bilingual (English/Spanish) is a plus

    Shifts:
    • 12 hour shifts starting on 9/11 til vessel is completed 
    • Day/Nights available 


    Duration:
    • 8-10 day project; could turn into recurrring opportunity
