    The Role: The Harvest Mechanic is responsible for maintaining, repairing, and troubleshooting the equipment used in the harvest process. This role plays a critical part in ensuring that all harvesting machinery operates smoothly and efficiently during the harvest season. The ideal candidate will have a strong mechanical background, be familiar with agricultural machinery, and be capable of performing emergency repairs when needed to minimize downtime.

    Location(s): Salinas, CA; Yuma, AZ; Impeial, CA

    Areas of Responsibility:

    • Maintains service truck, and all work areas clean, secured, stocked with parts, and well organized.
    • Responds to service calls, performs repairs, and minimizes equipment downtime.
    • Audits the condition of equipment and makes repair recommendations.
    • Complies with food safety (GAP) and quality control programs.
    • Has communication with foreman as required, takes orders, and works well with others.

    Requirements:

    • Must be punctual and ready to go as the schedule fluctuates.
    • Must travel between harvesting regions (Salinas/Tres Picos/Yuma/Imperial).
    • Must have arc welding experience in aluminum, stainless steel, and mild steel.
    • Must have good oxygen/acetylene torch skills.
    • Must possess own tools (hand, power, air, and cordless), and purchase own tools as necessary.
    • Must possess general knowledge of hydraulic and pneumatic working systems.
    • Must have automotive electrical understanding and troubleshooting skills.
    • Must have diesel engine troubleshooting and repair experience.
    • Must have excellent organizational skills and be detail-oriented with good time management skills.
    • Must be self-motivated and work independently with minimal supervision.
    • Must have good communication skills with all levels of hierarchy.
    • Must have a valid driver's license and a clean driver's record.
