Role: Hardware Tech

Duration: 6-12 months

Location: Lynnwood, WA (On-site)

Purpose of the Job

Under general supervision, performs intermediate engineering assignments associated with the receiving, staging and initial configuration of computer equipment to meeting design specifications.

Responsibilities and Accountabilities

Receives equipment and readies equipment for shipment.

Organizes shipping material

Add equipment to internal inventory system

Rack and stack equipment on datacenter floor

Label equipment

Cable equipment with appropriate labels

Perform power on tests

Perform initial configuration of equipment to assign IP addresses to allow for remote access.

Perform reverse steps upon system shipment or decommissioning

Responsible for implementation of equipment within project schedule.

Ability to manage multiple assignments concurrently.

Perform complex intermediate to advanced functional tests of computer systems.

Working knowledge of third-party software requirements for Client's core products and knowledge of how to install and configure the required third-party software.

Working knowledge of third-party software configuration and network topology and configuration needed to comply with appropriate security standards.

Working knowledge of network equipment configuration needed for proper functioning of Client core products, third-party software and the systems on which they reside.

Working knowledge of main equipment vendor's system specifications and configuration needed for the Client core products and third-party software residing on the systems.

Perform equipment installation and resolve implementation issues with lead engineer; implements the design within the allowed schedule with general supervision.

Integrates computer & network hardware, operating system software, and third-party software. Helps configure network device functionality.

Support a secure system lifecycle with system installation, configuration and patching in adherence with given security standards.

Prepare system documentation, such as hardware design drawings, plans of system set-ups, cabling lists, project specific drawings and configuration reference manuals.

Provide input to technical lead on schedules and cost estimates.

Interfaces with customers on specific projects or technical issues.

Other duties may be assigned to meet business needs.

Required to work EST/EDT hours. May be required to work extended hours.

Has to be able to lift servers, storage and switches to physically install. Roll heavily loaded computer cabinets. Use server lift when necessary.

Experience:

Requires two (2) years system infrastructure integration experience in comparable systems.

Strong experience with system integration, networking, operating system / software installation and maintenance, help desk, and/or data storage technology, specifically with Windows, Linux & VMware systems.

Capable of hardware installation and configuration. Racking, Cabling and verifying correct operation.

Knowledge of: SQL Server, Oracle Database, Visual Studio, git, Active Directory and Kubernetes is an asset.

Networking knowledge using TCP/IP protocols.

Need practical working experience with: Cisco switches, firewalls and routers. HPE iLO & DELL iDRAC interfaces, HPE & DELL Servers and Workstations. NetApp Arrays. Microsoft Windows, RedHat Linux and VMware vSphere & vCenter.

Good PC skills required, including use of standard MS Office & Visio applications.

Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills. Ability to write professional and technical reports and procedures. Ability to make informal presentations to technical and non-technical staff and customers.

Ability to prioritize work assignments and shift work efforts based on the needs of the department or business goals.

Ability to work independently and be self-motivated.

Ability to work effectively in a team environment.

Demonstrates a high degree of personal and professional integrity.

Ability to occasionally work non-standard hours to accommodate business needs.

Must be able to use laptop and Microsoft Teams & Outlook for extended periods of time to complete assigned task and duties.

Must be able to use copier, labeler, and fax machines on an intermittent basis.
