Position Title: Senior Hardware Technical Program Manager (Hardware TPM)
Position Description: Protingent Staffing has an exciting contract Senior Hardware Technical Program Manager for our client with this opportunity located in Bellevue, WA.
Job Description:
- This role supports building the sensing, edge intelligence, and interfaces that make our client's delivery network safe and efficient.
- We are seeking a technical, hands-on Hardware TPM to own the day-to-day execution of early-stage hardware programs (such as net-new camera and projection-based systems) from concept through feasibility, architecture, prototyping, and pilot deployments.
- You will partner directly with optical, mechanical, electrical, firmware, quality, and platform software engineering teams to manage cross-functional deliverables, look around corners on risks, and drive programs through tight schedules and cost constraints.
Job Responsibilities:
- Requirements & Specification Translation: Translate business requirements into technical/functional specifications, establishing clear hardware requirements, scope, and success criteria with engineering and product management.
- Program Execution & Schedule Management: Build project plans balancing business needs, risks, and resource availability; drive detailed schedules, build plans, and cross-functional deliverables for net-new hardware programs.
- Technical Trade-Offs & Risk Mitigation: Track status, make sound hardware trade-offs, resolve blocking issues, and anticipate electrical, mechanical, thermal, optical, DFM, reliability, and supply-chain risks early.
- Development Process Rigor: Apply and scale the SDT Product Development Process (PDP), including phase/gate reviews, design reviews, EVT/DVT/PVT-style build milestones, and ECO discipline.
- Pilot & POC Deployment: Plan and execute proof-of-concept and pilot deployments (site installs, calibration, smoke tests), define success metrics, and translate pilot data into go/no-go decisions toward mass production.
- Build & Supply Chain Coordination: Coordinate prototype and pilot builds, component procurement, long-lead items, and contract manufacturer/ODM interactions.
- Cross-Functional Leadership & Communication: Act as the single source of truth for program status and dependencies, producing crisp weekly status, WBR/MBR-quality updates, and executive narratives.
Job Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, a related technical field, or equivalent experience.
- TPM Experience: 6+ years of technical product or program management experience.
- Hardware Program Management: 5+ years of experience managing hardware and/or electromechanical product development programs.
- Full Lifecycle Experience: Proven experience with the full hardware product lifecycle—concept, feasibility, POC, prototype, EVT/DVT/PVT, and production—working directly with EE, ME, firmware, and quality teams.
- Project Management Disciplines: Demonstrated proficiency in core project management disciplines including scope, schedule, budget, resource, quality and risk management, reporting, and metric tracking.
- Cross-Functional Leadership: Strong background defining program requirements, building processes, and coordinating release schedules across diverse technical teams.
Preferred Job Qualifications:
- Optics & Sensing: Experience with products including sensing and/or optical modules, camera systems, thermal, computer vision, or edge-compute hardware.
- High-Volume / Rigorous Environments: Experience delivering hardware for high-volume consumer electronics or rigorous hardware environments.
- Pilots & POCs: Experience running pilots/POCs and translating pilot data into production go/no-go decisions.
- Manufacturing & Supply Chain: Working knowledge of manufacturing (DFM/DFA), contract manufacturers/ODMs, supply chain, and long-lead component management.
- Operations & Deployment: Familiarity with operations, logistics, or safety-critical deployment environments.
- Process Improvement: Experience improving or operating a formal product development process (phase/gate, ECO, reliability testing).
- Communication: Strong written communication skills with the ability to produce clear narratives and status reports for senior leadership.
