The Work

Lockheed Martin is seeking an experienced Hardware Systems Engineering Lead to join our Mission Systems team in Owego, NY. You'll lead development of Advanced Processing systems and subsystems, driving technical execution from requirements derivation through product integration.

In this senior role, you will:

• Lead product development and provide technical direction to engineers working across hardware, software, and firmware.
• Derive and manage requirements through design, integration, and verification.
• Ensure technical integrity, quality, and completeness of engineering deliverables.
• Support cost and schedule commitments while managing technical risks and priorities.
• Drive compliance with Systems Engineering and Hardware Development processes.
• Collaborate with customers, program leadership, and cross-functional stakeholders.
• Leverage Digital Transformation practices, including model-based engineering, test automation, and Agile development, to improve how products are designed, integrated, and delivered.

This is a full-time, onsite position in Owego, NY. This position requires the ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret security clearance.

You're an experienced systems or hardware engineer who enjoys solving complex problems and leading technical efforts. You bring hands-on experience with hardware design and systems engineering, ideally involving advanced processing systems. You're organized, collaborative, and comfortable balancing multiple priorities while communicating effectively with engineering teams, leadership, and customers.

Basic Qualifications

• Bachelors degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Computer, or Systems Engineering or a related discipline, or equivalent experience/combined education, with 9 years or more of professional experience; or 7 years of professional experience with a related Masters degree.
• Strong team leadership experience.
• Experience leading hardware design efforts including requirements derivation through product integration support.
• Experience with advanced processing systems that include hardware, software, and firmware elements.
• Experience collaborating with all engineering disciplines and program personnel and participation in cross functional product development.
• Ability to obtain and maintain security clearance to at least the Secret level and Interim Secret to start.

Desired Skills

• DOD customer experience
• Experience with designing / developing / integrating advanced processing systems
• Experience with DO-254 and/or DO-178 design certification
• Exceptional communication skills, both written and oral, and ability to brief technical / program information to internal and external audiences
• Experience working in classified environments
• Drive execution through a Digital Engineering environment, leveraging Model-Based System Engineering, DevSecOps and Agile approaches
• Experience with DOORS and NextGen DOORS

Pay Information

Full-Time Salary Range: $104900.00 - $194700.00

• For (Washington state applicants only) Non-represented full-time employees: accrue at least 10 hours per month of Paid Time Off (PTO) to be used for incidental absences and other reasons; receive at least 90 hours for holidays. Represented full time employees accrue 6.67 hours of Vacation per month; accrue up to 52 hours of sick leave annually; receive at least 96 hours for holidays. PTO, Vacation, sick leave, and holiday hours are prorated based on start date during the calendar year.
