    Description

    Senior Hardware Engineer

A rapidly growing technology-driven trading firm is seeking an experienced Hardware Engineer with deep expertise in the design and realization of high-speed, high-density electronic systems and printed circuit boards. This individual will play a key role in developing cutting-edge hardware platforms that push the limits of performance, latency, and scale. The ideal candidate is a creative problem-solver who enjoys tackling complex technical challenges, thinking strategically about system architecture, and exploring innovative solutions outside traditional approaches.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Design, develop, test, validate, and support manufacturing of custom hardware platforms, primarily PCB-based systems.
    • Perform schematic capture, PCB layout, and simulation using tools such as SPICE, Ansys SIwave, HFSS, or similar platforms.
    • Develop initial hardware bring-up and validation code using languages such as Python, C, or VHDL.
    • Analyze Eye Diagram and BERT test results, correlating simulation models with laboratory and production measurements.
    • Create engineering specifications, validation methodologies, and comprehensive test plans.
    • Troubleshoot and resolve hardware, firmware, and system-level issues throughout the development lifecycle.
    • Research and evaluate opportunities to improve system performance, including latency, scalability, and thermal efficiency.
    • Collaborate closely with multidisciplinary teams spanning trading, quantitative research, FPGA development, firmware, software engineering, mechanical engineering, and infrastructure.
    • Own hardware designs from initial concept through production deployment.
    • Manage and coordinate relationships with third-party vendors, manufacturers, and external engineering partners.

    Qualifications

    Required Qualifications

    • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related discipline; Master's or PhD preferred.
    • 5+ years of industry experience in hardware design and development.
    • Advanced ECAD expertise in tools such as Altium, Cadence, Mentor Graphics, or similar platforms.
    • Strong understanding of signal integrity (SI) and power integrity (PI) design principles and best practices.
    • Full product lifecycle experience from concept, design, validation, and release to production.
    • Deep knowledge of high-speed interfaces and associated protocols, including PCIe Gen3-6, USB 3/4, and 10/25G Ethernet.
    • Experience with low-speed hardware communication protocols such as I2C, SPI, JTAG, and USB.
    • Hands-on experience validating high-speed designs using TDRs, sampling oscilloscopes, and real-time oscilloscopes.
    • Proficiency in Python for hardware bring-up, automation, and testing.

    Preferred Qualifications

    • Familiarity with Ethernet standards (IEEE 802.3).
    • Experience designing hardware for data center, networking, consumer electronics, or other high-performance systems.
    • Software development experience in C or C++.
    • RTL development experience using VHDL and/or Verilog.
    • Experience with post-silicon validation, bring-up, and debugging.
