    Description

    GLHS Hall Monitor/ISS Coordin

    Building

    • Know all aspects of the building, including door numbers, teacher classroom locations, offices, bathrooms, maintenance/electrical closets, etc.
    • Be able to communicate precise location in the building, and travel to a precise location when requested over the radio.
    • Lock all exterior doors and check all interior doors each morning after the first bell of the day.
    • Know which interior and exterior doors need to be locked and unlocked, and check all interior and exterior doors several times throughout the day.
    • Communicate with custodial/maintenance staff regarding any issues in the building, (ex. Doors not latching, spills in the hallway, flooding bathrooms, etc.) and follow through on requests to ensure completion.
    • Receive phone/radio calls from security staff to check on alarms in various parts of the building.

    Hall Monitor

    • Carry a radio throughout the day and receive requests from office staff and administration. Examples of requests are checking bathrooms for ill students, searching for missing students, responding to calls of fights in various locations of the building, retrieving students from class, escorting visitors through the building, and Medical Emergency Response Team calls.
    • Circulate through the building consistently through the day checking hallways, stairwells, and bathrooms. Escort students to proper administration for any behaviors that need to be addressed.
    • Monitor halls and entryways for former students/community members who have a no trespassing order from GLPD.
    • Be visible for teachers or other staff members who may need assistance with students.
    • Anticipate 10,000-15,000 steps per day.

    ISS Coordinator

    • For students who are in all day ISS, coordinate with teachers/dean on classwork that needs to be completed while in ISS.
    • Assist students with gathering and completing classwork during the day, including utilizing Blocksi to ensure only classwork is being access on Chromebook.
    • Complete documentation for students who have an IEP/504 detailing access to educational setting during time in ISS.
    • For students in lunch detention, assist students with getting lunch and monitor during lunch period, including utilizing Blocksi to ensure only classwork is being accessed on Chromebooks.
    • Enter and track suspensions/detentions in shared administrative spreadsheet.

    Medical Emergency Response Team

    • Participate in all aspects of the Medical Emergency Response Team, including responding to calls, making calls to the Team when necessary, providing medical support to student and staff, documenting MERT responses, and participating in all MERT trainings throughout the year.
    • Maintain certification in AED/CPR and any other certifications deemed necessary by school nurse staff.

    Cell Phones

    • Uphold the district wide standards on use of cell phones during instructional time. Escort students who are in violation to the office to lock up their phone, and coordinate with Cell Phone Management to track violations.
    • Report higher levels of violations to the appropriate administrative member.

    Administration

    • Maintain communication with administration on student and safety concerns.
    • Record log entries in PowerSchool regarding student behavior concerns.
    • Track students who are on hall pass/bathroom restrictions and enforce restriction policies.
    • Perform any other duties administration may assign.
    • Make sure Phil eats lunch to prevent afternoon crabbiness.

    TA building substitute

    • Possess a general knowledge of all TA building roles.
    • Perform as a building TA substitute in event of absence, sometimes with short or no notice.
    • Provide extra in-class support for special education teachers and students as needed.
    • If requested, complete training to become a backup Healthcare TA, and perform Healthcare TA duties as requested, including working in the healthcare room and going on school related field trips.
