Hairstylist Job Qualifications and skills:
- Knows haircutting, hairstyling, and hair coloring best practices.
- Experience using different types of scissors, trimmers and other tools to create hairstyles.
- Communicates clearly and has a strong active listening skills.
- Builds long-term relationships with clients and has excellent social skills.
- Collaborates with other hair stylists and is a team-player.
- Works confidently in a fast-paced salon, has good time- management skills, is punctual, and is detail oriented.
- An understanding of the different types of hairstyles a person can request and how to achieve those looks.
- A willingness to learn about new styles and techniques.
Hairstylist Job Responsibilities:
- Help clients decide their ideal haircut and hairstyle.
- Completes haircutting techniques, including trims, layers, and texturizing.
- Perform haircoloring methods, such as highlights.
- Styles hair, including blowouts, curls, and updos.
- Develops ongoing relationships with clients.
- Keeps a clean station and sanitizes all tools.
- Follows all salon policies and procedures.
