JOB SUMMARY The Hair Care Specialist is committed to providing a quality experience for our elder population through personalized hair care services. This position enhances residents dignity, confidence, and overall well-being by delivering compassionate, individualized care in a warm and welcoming environment. The Hair Care Specialist builds meaningful relationships with residents while promoting comfort, self-esteem, and quality of life. In accordance with Wyoming law, a current cosmetology license is preferred but not required for employees providing hair care services within a nursing home. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS The Hair Care Specialist is committed to providing a quality experience for our elder population through personalized hair care services. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS Provide haircuts, shampooing, styling, and basic hair care services tailored to each residents preferences and needs. Create a welcoming salon environment where residents feel comfortable, respected, and valued. Engage residents in friendly conversation and meaningful interactions that enhance their overall experience. Coordinate appointments while accommodating resident care schedules and preferences. Maintain a clean, organized, and safe salon area. Clean and sanitize all tools, equipment, and work areas in accordance with infection prevention and facility standards. Follow all applicable safety, sanitation, and infection control procedures. Collaborate with nursing and caregiving staff to meet each residents individual needs. Promote resident dignity, independence, confidence, and well-being through compassionate hair care services. Perform other duties as assigned. POSITION QUALIFICATIONS Education, Experience and License High school diploma or equivalent, required. Previous experience providing hair care services through professional, educational, volunteer, or personal care settings. Ability to perform haircuts, shampooing, styling, and basic hair care techniques. Excellent customer service and interpersonal communication skills. Compassionate, patient-centered approach when working with older adults. Current Wyoming Cosmetology License, preferred Previous experience working in long-term care, senior living, healthcare, or with older adults, preferred. Experience with hair coloring, perms, and other cosmetology services, preferred. Additional Skills Strong interpersonal and communication skills. Excellent organizational and time-management abilities. Ability to work independently and collaboratively with an interdisciplinary team. Commitment to providing exceptional customer service while fostering residents dignity and self-esteem. Specific demands not listed: Possible exposure to blood and / or body fluids / infectious disease / hazardous waste requiring the use of Personal Protective Equipment. Exposure to odorous chemicals / specimens and Latex products. Pre-employment drug and alcohol screening is required.
