Job Description
The Habitat Conservation Technician helps protect some of the University's most sensitive and valuable resources, its tree canopy. Monitoring the health and safety of Texas State University's tree canopy, performing hazard and risk assessments for both pedestrian traffic and property. Maintain our tree inventory identifying replacement needs as trees are removed for construction, health, or risk. Research, design, plan, and perform duties in the prevention, control, and remediation of invasive species using various disciplines and industry accepted best management practices. Sustainably improve, manage, and protect Texas State University's landscape natural resources creating a comfortable and safe environment in which to learn.
Job Duties
The Habitat Conservation Technician's duties include monitoring the health of Texas State University's tree canopy and potential tree hazards on campus. Perform pruning of immature trees to guide growth, reducing future potential hazards and improving aesthetic form. Perform pruning for safe visibility, line of sight and lighting clearance. Monitor and maintain invasive species on campus properties. Plan and host Arbor Day events and other arboriculture educational opportunities. Maintain the University's tree inventory, updating removals and additions.
