Join our client’s precision shop in Des Moines as a hands-on machinist who loves switching between Haas VMCs and classic manual mills and engine lathes. If tight tolerances, clean setups, and smart problem-solving energize you, this role will feel like home.
A day in the shop
- Set up and run lathes, mills, and grinders to produce high‑quality components.
- Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and specs to plan each operation.
- Monitor machining, check dimensions, and dial in offsets or feeds/speeds to hit quality targets.
- Handle routine maintenance and troubleshoot issues to minimize downtime.
- Collaborate with teammates to refine processes and boost throughput.
- Keep your work area organized and safe, following established protocols.
What you’ll bring
- High school diploma or equivalent; machining trade school or certifications are a plus.
- Proven machinist background working with both CNC and manual equipment.
- Experience operating Haas CNC machines and traditional manual tools.
- Solid understanding of materials, tooling, and machining methods.
- Ability to interpret technical documents and blueprints accurately.
- Exceptional attention to detail and a methodical approach to problem-solving.
- Clear communication and a team-first mindset.
