About the Opportunity

We're seeking an experienced Environmental Health & Safety (EH&S) Manager to support a well-established chemical plant operation. This role is ideal for a hands-on EH&S professional who enjoys building relationships on the production floor, strengthening safety culture, and driving environmental compliance initiatives.

As the site's EH&S leader, you'll partner closely with operations, production leadership, and corporate EH&S teams to ensure compliance, promote employee engagement, and implement continuous improvement initiatives across the facility.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage site Environmental, Health & Safety programs and policies

  • Ensure compliance with OSHA, EPA, Oregon DEQ, DOT, and other applicable regulations

  • Conduct EH&S audits, inspections, and program assessments

  • Analyze and communicate EH&S performance metrics and trends

  • Manage environmental permitting, monitoring, and reporting activities

  • Lead incident investigations, root cause analysis, and corrective action processes

  • Develop and deliver EH&S training programs

  • Support contractor safety, permitting, and site compliance activities

  • Provide oversight for Process Safety Management (PSM) and Risk Management Plan (RMP) programs

  • Partner with operations leadership on capital projects and continuous improvement initiatives

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Environmental Health & Safety, Engineering, or a related field

  • 7+ years of EH&S experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment

  • Strong knowledge of environmental compliance and permitting requirements

  • Experience with:

  • Title V Air Permits

  • Hazardous Waste Management

  • Wastewater Compliance & Reporting

  • Stormwater Programs

  • SPCC, LOTO, Confined Space, and related safety programs

  • Process Safety Management (PSM) experience preferred

  • Strong organizational, communication, and project management skills

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Excel

  • Ability to build effective working relationships across all levels of an organization

Preferred Background

Experience in chemical manufacturing, wood products, resins, coatings, industrial processing, or other highly regulated manufacturing environments is strongly preferred.
