Gunsmith III is a senior, journeyman-level small arms repairer. They handle complex disassembly, diagnosing, overhauling, and calibrating of mechanical and electronic weapon systems, tactical accessories, and heavy ordnance, while ensuring strict vault security, precise documentation, and mentorship for junior staff.

Responsibilities:

• Inspection & Diagnostics: Perform initial acceptance checks, complete teardowns, and advanced troubleshooting of structural, mechanical, or electronic weapon malfunctions using specialized diagnostic tools.
• Repair & Overhaul: Replace worn, broken, or obsolete parts on pistols, rifles, shotguns, submachine guns, and heavy artillery in strict accordance with technical manuals and manufacturer specs.
• Testing & Calibration: Align, adjust, and test-fire repaired weapon systems to verify optimal function, precision, and accuracy.
• Compliance & Security: Maintain physical vault safety, strict inventory accountability for sensitive items and ammunition, and accurate maintenance logs.
• Leadership: Train, mentor, and supervise subordinate armorers and lower level gunsmithing personnel.

Identification as LEAD, adds administrative duties to the standard labor category. Administrative duties include personnel accountability, timekeeping, drafting and submitting reports, creating a safety culture, and enforcing company/contract requirements and standards.

Qualifications:

• 8+ years of professional small arms repair experience (or equivalent military/civilian small arms training like MOS 45/91F series).
• Completed 92Y UNIT ARMORER CERTIFICATION COURSE: 551-F29 (MTT-A/G) or equivalent civilian training.
• Experienced user with Microsoft Office Suite.
• Must have the ability to receive a favorable TIER-1 investigation result and obtain/maintain a CAC.

• Ability to pass Pre-Employment Drug Test and Background Screening.

• Physical requirements include (but are not limited to) the ability to lift 50 pounds, pushing, pulling, carrying, stooping, bending, squatting, and reaching.

Desired Qualifications:

• Completed factory Armorer’s courses.
• Supervisor experience in unit armory operations.
• Valid Driver’s License.
• CDL with Passenger Endorsement.
• Minimum of a High School Diploma / GED.

Pay & Benefits:

• Hourly Compensation: $27.01
• Hourly Health & Welfare Fringe: $5.09.

This position is contingent upon contract award and funding. Applicants selected may be hired but cannot begin work until funding has been confirmed.
