About the Role:

At Lockheed Martin Space, a GNC Engineer typically designs, develops, implements, verifies and tests algorithms to perform guidance, navigation and control of aircraft, spacecraft, launch vehicles and upper stages during powered and coast phases of flight, earth orbit, interplanetary cruise and orbital insertion, as well as during staging events.

  • Guidance functions include the formulation of specific equations and control laws to achieve a desired position in space.
  • Navigation functions include the statistical processing of measured data points and their substitution into algorithms simulating physical reality.
  • Control design and analyses processes consist of the development of the control requirements for aircraft, launch vehicles and/or spacecraft.

Successful applicants generally have a minimum of 1+ years of related experience and may have a post‑secondary degree or training in a related discipline.

Basic Qualifications:

Skill Requirements:

  • Demonstrated experience using MATLAB and/or Simulink for planning and conducting system performance and simulation analysis.
  • Knowledge of system design and flight vehicle architectures.

Security Clearance / Work Authorization:

  • To meet requirements of the program/customer, this position requires the selected employee to be a U.S. Citizen.
  • Active Secret clearance is required to prior to start, and is the minimum level to be considered qualified.
  • Selected candidates must maintain a Secret clearance for long term employment on this program.

Desired Skills:

  • Master's degree in a related discipline from an accredited university
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Experience in hypersonic vehicle design and reentry vehicle systems
  • Experience with navigation, controls, and guidance algorithm development
  • Experience in requirements definition and verification
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Demonstrated ability to build effective relationships with team members
  • Demonstrated ability to work in cross-functional teams to resolve technical issues
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, collaborative team environment
  • Active DOD Secret security clearance

Ability to Work Remotely: Onsite Full-time: The work associated with this position will be performed onsite at a designated Lockheed Martin facility.

Work Schedules: Lockheed Martin supports a variety of alternate work schedules that provide additional flexibility to our employees. Schedules range from standard 40 hours over a five day work week while others may be condensed. These condensed schedules provide employees with additional time away from the office and are in addition to our Paid Time off benefits.

Schedule for this Position: 9x80 every other Friday off
