    GENERAL SUMMARY

    Guest Services Assistants are Persons in front-line positions. They are responsible for maintaining a safe, orderly, welcoming environment for visitors to the Family Museum. Duties include general operations at the admissions desk: handling cash, answering phones, processing memberships, operating the Museum Store, and answering general questions from the public. Successful candidates will be required to facilitate birthday parties. Other duties include but are not limited to processing groups, working large special events, cleaning exhibit props, mailings, troubleshooting exhibits and office equipment, light sewing, bathroom maintenance, and some first aid.

    Working under the supervision of the Guest Experiences/Exhibits Coordinator, GSA's will be responsible for operating a cash register, computer, calculator, walkie talkie's, multi-line phone system, PA, and security system. Candidates are required to have the ability to prepare end-of-day reports and must have a proven ability to learn other programs.

    KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED

    Education:

    Position requires a level of knowledge normally acquired through the completion of a general high school diploma.

    Experience:

    One to two years prior work experience interacting with the public and volunteers. Position involves regular contact with Museum visitors and requires a high degree of courtesy and excellent verbal communications skills in order to positively represent the Museum to the public.

    Analytical Ability:

    Routine and non-recurring problem-solving skills are required.

    Physical Requirements:

    Ability to stand, stoop and stand in order to reset galleries. Ability to move medium, equipment and supplies weighing up to 20 pounds.

    WORK SCHEDULE

    • Position is part-time up to 19 hours per week.
    • Scheduled work hours will include one to two evenings per week and every Saturday.
    • May also include special events and filling in other shifts as needed.

    ATTIRE

    Guest Services Assistants will be provided Family Museum shirts and a name tag to be worn during their shift. They must also abide by the dress code in the Family Museum handbook.

    REPORTING RELATIONSHIP

    Reports to: Guest Experience/Exhibits Coordinator

    Not responsible for the supervision of other staff members but will work alongside volunteers.

    This is a part-time, up to 19 hours per week position. Applications will be accepted until Thursday, August 27, 2026, at 5:00pm. Current employees will need to apply through UKG.
