A day in the life
You start your shift at our Westside of Jacksonville facility, reviewing work orders for rotating and stationary turbine and generator parts. After a quick huddle with the job site manager, you set up your GTAW (TIG) rig, verify parameters, and pull precision tools for inspection. You’ll disassemble components, assess wear, and prep surfaces with blending and media blasting before executing precise TIG repairs on specialty alloys such as INCO, Hastelloy X, stainless, and carbon steel. With blueprints and specifications at your side, you measure, verify, and record tolerances with calipers, verniers, and ID/OD micrometers. Between jobs, you move parts safely with a crane or forklift, maintain a spotless, safe work area, and jump in to support other shop teams as needed.
What you’ll do
- Repair and manufacture turbine/generator components with a strong emphasis on TIG welding.
- Disassemble and reassemble complex turbine/generator parts.
- Inspect parts/components and document findings.
- Prep and blend, including media blasting, to achieve correct profiles.
- Partner with job site managers to align on scope, schedule, and quality targets.
- Operate forklifts and overhead cranes in accordance with safety procedures.
- Keep a clean, organized, and safe workspace; assist other shop areas as needed.
What you’ll bring
- At least 1 year of welding experience preferred.
- Willingness to work overtime as required.
- Background in the power generation industry preferred.
- Experience assembling/using fixtures for repeatable setups.
- Hands-on skill with precision measurement tools (calipers, verniers, ID/OD micrometers, etc.).
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical specifications.
- Demonstrated capability to perform intricate welds on delicate components with high precision and minimal distortion.
- Proficiency welding specialty metals (INCO, Hastelloy X, carbon/stainless steels, etc.).
- Foundational knowledge of metallurgy.
- Ability to set up and operate welding equipment independently.
- Mechanical aptitude and strong problem-solving approach.
- Clear verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to foresee changes relevant to your area and adjust proactively.
- Ability to organize work assignments to keep operations efficient.
- Ability to communicate in a clear and concise manner to achieve intended objectives.
- Good organizational skills.
Physical & safety
- Able to stand and walk for extended periods, with frequent bending, reaching, and lifting.
- Follow all customer and company safety guidelines.
- OSHA 10 certification preferred.
- Valid driver’s license.
- Comfort operating forklifts and cranes.
Compensation & schedule
- Pay: $24–$30 per hour (depending upon experience).
- Direct Hire | Full-Time.
- Location: Westside of Jacksonville.
