Description

Join Us as a GTAW/GMAW Production Welder-Fabricator

Location: Pontiac, Michigan

Engagement: Six to Eight Week Contract (with the possibility of extension)

Openings: 2 TIG-focused roles and 1 MIG-focused role

Shifts: First and Second shift opportunities, based on current equipment availability

Compensation: $18.00–$38.00 per hour, determined by customer evaluation of your welding test performance


What your day looks like

  • Lay down consistent, clean GTAW (TIG) and/or GMAW (MIG) welds on components and assemblies.
  • Work directly from blueprints, fabrication drawings, weld symbols, and written work instructions.
  • Configure welding equipment: choose the right process settings, filler/wire, shielding gas, and technique for the job.
  • Verify quality: check penetration, bead appearance, dimensional accuracy, and overall integrity of completed welds.
  • Use precision measurement tools (calipers, micrometers, gauges) to confirm part dimensions.
  • Prepare joints and materials by cutting, grinding, cleaning, fitting, and positioning prior to welding.
  • Tack weld and fixture parts to hold alignment, squareness, and specified dimensions.
  • Troubleshoot and correct weld defects and quality issues as they arise.
  • Care for equipment; escalate any tooling or machine concerns promptly.
  • Work safely at all times, following PPE rules and OSHA-aligned procedures.
  • Keep a tidy, organized workstation that supports safe and efficient flow.
  • Hit production schedules while upholding stringent quality expectations.
  • Assist with additional welding and fabrication tasks as assigned.

What you bring

  • At least 1 year of hands-on MIG and/or TIG welding experience.
  • Ability to read blueprints and interpret welding symbols confidently.
  • Background working with steel, stainless steel, aluminum, or other metals.
  • Comfort with fundamental inspection and measuring instruments.
  • Strong attention to detail and pride in producing high-caliber work.
  • Team-oriented mindset with the ability to work independently when needed.
  • Solid hand-eye coordination and mechanical aptitude.
  • Physical stamina to stand for long periods and perform repetitive tasks.
  • Capable of lifting and moving materials as production requires.
  • Welding certification is a plus, not a must.
