    Position Overview

    The Assistant Pre-Kindergarten Teacher supports the classroom environment by focusing on student well-being, daily routines, and non-academic tasks. While not directly responsible for academic instruction, the Assistant ensures smooth operations during transitions, meals, rest time, and recess, helping maintain a safe and nurturing environment where children can thrive.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Support classroom routines and transitions under the collaborative direction of the Director, Lead, and Associate Teachers.

    • Assist students with daily tasks, including arrival, dismissal, coats, backpacks, and belongings.

    • Supervise students during recess, nap/rest time, lunch, and bathroom breaks, ensuring safety and order.

    • Support lunch administration, including distributing meals and assisting students as needed.

    • Help maintain classroom organization, cleanliness, and preparation of materials.

    • Monitor student safety indoors and outdoors, maintaining appropriate supervision at all times.

    • Reinforce positive behavior expectations and assist in classroom management as directed.

    • Perform light housekeeping tasks, including sanitizing toys, tidying play areas, and maintaining hygienic conditions.

    • Communicate observations regarding student well-being to the Lead Teacher and Director.

    • Participate in staff meetings and training sessions as required.

    • Perform other duties as assigned.

    Qualifications

    • High school diploma or GED required.

    • CDA credential preferred.

    • Previous experience working with children in a classroom, childcare, or camp setting is a plus.

    • Reliable, flexible, and able to follow directions as part of a teaching team.

    Ability to lift up to 40 lbs and actively engage with young children.
