GSPP Graduate Assistant

OVERVIEW

The Graduate School of Professional Psychology (GSPP) offers paid part-time graduate assistantships for students in the GSPP, who are interested in working with faculty and staff on a variety of projects during the academic year (September-May). The department offers approximately 1-2 graduate assistantships per academic year.

GSPP offers assistantships that provide support for individual faculty members. These assistantships may involve working on:

• Faculty research and special projects*
• Classroom presentations
• Conducting surveys
• Scholarly proposals and manuscripts
• Conference presentations
• Collecting data
• Grant writing opportunities
• A practicum

Assistantships may or may not:

• Be exclusive to the field of psychology.
• Be directly involved in program studies.
• Include routine clerical/administrative tasks and responsibilities.
• Expect extracurricular or event participation (i.e. new student orientation, etc.)

Applications are evaluated and selected based on summary statement and survey responses.

Applicants will be notified of their application status via email in the month of September. Selected applicants are expected to sign and abide by the FERPA confidentiality policy and GSPP Personal Characteristics

• Failure to follow these codes of conduct may forfeit one''s assistantship.

In lieu of a cover letter, please provide the selection committee with a summary statement regarding your experiences, desires, and thoughts about the following:

• Why you would like to be hired as a graduate assistant
• The types of projects that interest you
• Make sure to include research subjects if you are interested in research
• Your technology skills and how you have applied those skills.
• Any other information you feel is important for the selection committee to know.
• May vary depending on assistantship responsibilities.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Bachelor's degree completed and currently enrolled in a graduate program in the Graduate School of Professional Psychology (MA or PsyD) at the University of St. Thomas
• Strong communication, organization, and leadership skills
• Ability to work collaboratively with students and staff
• Detail-oriented
• Ability to manage multiple projects/tasks
• Timely, reliable, and self-driven

ELIGIBILITY

To be eligible for student employment, St. Thomas students must be degree seeking at the undergraduate, graduate and doctoral levels.
