Duties
- To develop in each pupil an appreciation of the art of music as part of general culture; to teach techniques of vocal or instrumental music expression; to discover and develop talents of pupils in the field of music; to develop knowledge and skills in listening to and reading music.
- Teaches music appreciation, harmony, vocal and instrumental music, and choral performance using age-appropriate instructional strategies.
- Plans and organizes a balanced music program that maximizes instructional, rehearsal, and performance time.
- Provides whole-group, small-group, and individualized instruction to meet the diverse needs of students.
- Fosters a classroom environment that promotes the love of music
- Establishes and maintains standards of student behavior that promote a safe, orderly, and productive learning environment.
- Assesses student musical growth, performance, and participation, and communicates progress with parents and school counselors.
- Plans, rehearses, and directs musical performances and programs for school
- Selects, inventories, maintains, and safeguards instructional materials, musical instruments, and other district-owned equipment; requests repairs as needed.
- Collaborates with colleagues and families to identify and address students'' academic, behavioral, health, and social-emotional needs.
- Assists with musical support for school productions, graduation ceremonies, and other district or community functions as needed
- Supervises students during assigned school activities and performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Valid Illinois Professional Educator License with an endorsement in K-5 music for the grade level.
Salary/Benefits
- Salary placement schedule: Up to 20 years of experience, including out-of-state and private schools, is granted. Any raises are factored into placement salary after year 1. Placement Matrix for 26-27
- Board-paid TRS
- $780 board contribution toward health insurance
- 14 sick days, three personal days
- Children can attend Maroa-Forsyth Schools even if they live outside the district, as long as the parent or guardian is a full-time employee.
