Growth Enablement & Relationship Development Manager
$125,000-$150,000 Base + Annual Incentive | Boston Suburbs
About the Opportunity
We are a well-established, growth-oriented professional services firm looking to add a Growth Enablement & Relationship Development Manager to our leadership team. This is a newly created, high-visibility role reporting directly to firm leadership, with a clear mandate: build a modern, sustainable business-development function from the ground up.
This is a management and coaching role -- not a quota-carrying, individual sales position. You'll lead, develop, and hold accountable a team of business-development and relationship-development professionals, while also serving as a firmwide resource on sales process, relationship management, and client experience. Your success will be measured by team performance, retention, and client outcomes, not by your own personal production.
This role is an especially strong fit for someone coming from insurance, wealth management, banking, financial advisory, consulting, or another relationship-driven professional services environment. No technical tax or accounting background is required -- what matters most is your ability to coach, recruit, and build a high-performing, relationship-focused team.
What You'll Do
- Directly manage, coach, and develop a team of business-development and relationship-development professionals.
- Own recruiting, onboarding, and retention for business-development talent, and build a strong ongoing candidate pipeline.
- Set clear expectations, activity standards, and individual development plans -- and hold the team accountable to them.
- Build and continually improve the firm's sales and relationship-development process, from first contact through client handoff and long-term relationship expansion.
- Train partners, engagement leaders, and other client-facing professionals on discovery, value communication, follow-through, and referral generation.
- Use CRM data, call recordings, and client feedback to deliver specific, practical coaching.
- Identify friction in communication, handoffs, and follow-through across teams, and fix it.
- Partner directly with firm leadership on performance management, hiring, and organizational structure.
- Help build a firmwide culture where relationship development and client experience are treated as real professional disciplines.
What We're Looking For
- 5-10 years of experience in sales management, sales enablement, coaching, or training.
- A relationship-driven background -- insurance, wealth management, banking, financial advisory, consulting, or similar professional/B2B services.
- A demonstrated track record of developing people and building teams, not just producing individual sales.
- Experience recruiting, onboarding, and retaining high-performing employees.
- Comfort operating with senior professionals, partners, executives, or business owners.
- The ability to balance empathy with accountability -- direct, but not damaging to relationships.
- Polished, credible executive presence, without being overly corporate.
- An entrepreneurial mindset -- you're energized by building a function that doesn't fully exist yet, not just running an established playbook.
- No technical tax or accounting experience required.
Why This Role
- A true leadership seat -- not a commission-driven sales job. This role is built and measured around coaching, team development, and firmwide impact.
- Direct access to and partnership with firm leadership from day one.
- The opportunity to build a business-development function from the ground up, with influence that extends across the entire firm rather than being siloed within one team.
- A performance incentive tied to team outcomes, retention, and firm performance -- not exclusively personal revenue.
- Room to grow in scope, seniority, and compensation as the function and team expand.
Compensation & Benefits
- Base salary: $125,000-$150,000, based on experience.
- Annual performance incentive based on team and firm outcomes.
- Full benefits package: health insurance, retirement plan, and paid time off.
- Professional development and sales-training budget.
- Travel and business-development expense reimbursement.
