    SUMMARY:
    The Group Home Manager is responsible for the overall operation, safety, and quality of the residential home while ensuring that adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities receive high-quality, person-centered support. The Manager provides leadership and supervision to residential staff, oversees daily household operations, supports the implementation of individual service plans, ensures compliance with Pine Castle policies and regulatory requirements, and promotes an environment that fosters independence, dignity, personal choice, and community participation. The Manager serves as a role model for Pine Castle’s core values and works collaboratively with residents, families, guardians, staff, and the interdisciplinary team to promote the health, safety, well-being, and quality of life of each resident.
     
    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following.  Other duties may be assigned.
     
    Orders supplies and determines need for maintenance and repairs to house, furnishings, and vehicles.
     
    Assigns rooms, assists in planning recreational activities, and supervises habilitation skills training.
     
    Compiles records of daily activities of residents.
     
    Ascertains need for and secures services of physician.  Submits monthly reports on attendance to medical appointments, medical concerns and recommendations for consumers.
     
    Supervises activities of assigned staff and provides in-service training to maintain and upgrade skills.
     
    Prepares monthly staff schedules.
     
    Coordinates and records results of monthly meeting for residents.
     
    Posts and follows approved menus weekly and maintains records for up to six months for review.
     
    Accounts for client funds within established accounting procedures.
     
    Orders prescribed medications and supervises administration accordingly, insuring a five-day supply of each prescription is available at all times.
     
    Documents progress made in training, daily occurrences, case notes, quarterly notes, and quarterly reports.
     
    Responsible for creating implementation plans for new participants.
     
    Reviews case files on quarterly basis to insure proper documentation by staff.
     
    Instructs direct care staff on details of implementing Behavioral Goals for consumers to include collection of data, training, procedures, and reinforcements.
     
    SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
    Directly supervises up to 7 employees and up to 10 consumers in the group homes.  Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws.  Responsibilities include training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
     
    PREFERED QUALIFICATIONS:
    Experience managing residential group homes.
    Experience with scheduling and staff supervision.
    Experience with electronic health records and documentation systems.
    Knowledge of behavioral support plans and person-centered planning.
    Experience preparing for APD, CMS, or accreditation surveys.
     
    QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

    EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
    Bachelor’s degree (BA) from four-year college or university in health, social/rehabilitation sciences, education, or other human services related field, and two plus years management experience.
     
    LANGUAGE SKILLS:
    Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.  Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.  Ability to speak effectively before groups of clients and families, or employees of organizations while providing effective and exceptional customer service.
     
    MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:
    Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.  Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
     
    REASONING ABILITY:
    Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.  Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
     
    CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:
    Completion of required background screening as required by Florida Statutes (see HB531 | Florida Agency for Health Care Administration for more information).
    Valid Florida Driver's License in good standing, with clean record, is required and must be maintained for continued employment.
    Certification in First Aid and CPR, HIV/Aids and Infection Control and all other APD required trainings must be attained within 90 days of employment and must not expire for continued employment.
    Medication Certification and Validation must be attained within 90 days of employment and maintained for continued employment.
     
    OTHER SKILLS and ABILITIES:
    Demonstrate knowledge of the needs of persons with Developmental Disabilities.
    Ability to maintain a safe and healthy environment that resembles normalized living.
    Ability to support each consumer in developing attitudes and behaviors appropriate to community living.
    Ability to respond quickly and appropriately to emergency situations at all times.
    Proficient in Microsoft Office products and general office equipment.

    While performing the duties of this job, the employee frequently works near moving mechanical parts and in outside weather conditions and is frequently exposed to wet and/or humid conditions.  The employee is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, extreme cold, extreme heat, risk of electrical shock, and vibration.
     
    The noise level in the work environment if usually moderate.
