This hourly position at the Kaiserman JCC, reporting to the Group Fitness Manager, involves leading dynamic and engaging group fitness classes for individuals of varying fitness levels. As a fitness instructor, you will provide guidance, motivation, and support to participants while ensuring safety and maintaining a professional environment. This position requires a strong passion for fitness, excellent communication skills, and the ability to inspire others to achieve their fitness goals.

Responsibilities:
- Lead Group Fitness Classes: Plan, prepare, and lead engaging and safe group fitness classes for participants of varying fitness levels.
- Provide Instruction: Offer clear guidance on exercises, ensuring proper form, safety, and technique throughout the session.
- Motivate and Inspire: Create a positive and motivating atmosphere, encouraging participants to achieve their fitness goals and work at their own intensity level.
- Ensure Safety: Monitor participants to prevent injuries, provide modifications, and ensure that exercises are performed safely.
- Engage with Members: Build strong relationships with participants, offer encouragement, and be accessible for questions before and after class.
- Maintain Professionalism: Demonstrate a professional appearance, punctuality, and a positive attitude while leading classes.
- Stay Informed: Stay up to date with fitness trends, industry standards, and community center offerings to better serve participants.
- Adhere to Policies: Follow the community center's policies, including emergency procedures, cancellation protocols, and other administrative tasks.
- Maintain Certification: Ensure that all necessary certifications, including CPR and group fitness, are kept current and compliant with industry standards.
- Assist with Facility Maintenance: Help maintain the cleanliness and safety of the fitness areas and equipment, reporting any maintenance issues promptly.
Qualifications:
- Four-year college degree in exercise science or related field of study or 4-5 years of experience in the fitness industry preferred or any combination of education and experience.
- Must hold a current group exercise certification from one of the following groups: ACE, ACSM, NASM, NETA, or AFAA.
- CPR/AED certification
- Must have excellent communication skills. Must be able to build rapport and relationships with instructors and members.
- Must be enthusiastic and passionate about motivating and helping others enhance their professionalism through growth and development in the fitness industry.
