    Description

    Jackson State University, an NCAA Division I member of the Southwestern Athletic Conference and one of the leading institutions of higher education in the region is accepting applications for the position of Group Fitness Instructor.

    Examples of Duties

    Specific duties and responsibilities associated with this position shall include, but are not

    limited to:

    • Lead group fitness classes at the Walter Payton Recreation and Wellness Center.
    • Prepare exercise routines and demonstrate proper techniques.
    • Adjust exercises for participants with different fitness levels.
    • Encourage participants and provide a positive class experience.
    • Set up, clean and put away equipment used during classes.
    • Monitor participant safety and report injuries or equipment problems.
    • Keep class attendance records and follow the assigned schedule.
    • Follow Center policies and assist with fitness programs and events.
    • Perform other duties as assigned.

    Typical Qualifications

    High school diploma or GED and knowledge of basic fitness and safe exercise practices. Previous experience leading group fitness classes is preferred.
