POSITION DESCRIPTION:
Under general direction, the Group & Family Programs Supervisor is responsible for the organization, development, and implementation of all group & family education programs and experiences. Associated programs include camps, overnights, and scout programs. This position is responsible for supervising group and family staff along with camp programming, while supporting the overall mission and associated education programs of the Kansas City Zoo and Aquarium.

Oversees all operational aspects of all group programs, such as camps, family programs, and on-grounds education experiences, including:

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
EDUCATION & FORMAL TRAINING:
Bachelor's degree in education, biology or related field preferred.
EXPERIENCE:
2-3 years' experience with formal/informal education programs strongly preferred.
Prior experience in zoos, aquariums, museums, interpretation, or related field welcomed.
Previous experience coordinating camps, tours, and other fee-based programs preferred.
Experience supervising and/or working with volunteers welcomed.
Knowledge of conservation/biological/environmental teaching programs and interpretation welcomed.
Knowledge of classroom management techniques and skills using teaching aids, including animal, biofacts, artifacts, and library resources preferred.
Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office, Adobe Creative Suite, and audio-visual equipment, required.
Strong presentation, verbal, and written communication skills.
OTHER MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
Must have a valid driver''s license.
Can move equipment weighing up to 50 pounds, with or without assistance.
Must be willing to become CPR/First-Aid certified.
Must be able to work a flexible schedule, including weekends, holidays, and overnight/evening hours, in all weather extremes.
Must pass a background and drug screening.
