    Description

    The Group Exercise Instructor is responsible for teaching group exercise to members, providing a variety of exercise options for the fitness program. In addition, every position in the YMCA of Greater Montgomery is responsible for modeling behaviors that exemplify the four pillars of character – caring, honesty, respect and responsibility.

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
    1. Meeting and assessing new members for fitness needs and providing a safe and effective program to meet those needs.
    2. Leading group exercise classes with appropriate verbal instructions and clear patterns of movement.
    3. Providing instructions for participants on taking their heart rate and when to decrease the intensity of the workout for their safety.
    EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

    High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

    CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
    Group Exercise Instructor certification
    Current CPR, First Aid, AED or within 30 days
    YMCA Safety Trainings
