Position Summary: The Group & Catering Sales Manager is responsible for the attainment of assigned group room and catering revenue goals tied to the overall performance of the hotel. This individual will be responsible for proactively soliciting and securing new business opportunities, maintaining existing client relationships, and maximizing revenue within assigned market segments including Corporate, Association, Government, SMERFE, and Social Groups. In addition, this position serves as the primary sales contract for wedding business, managing the sales process from initial inquiry through event execution. The Group & Catering Sales Manager will work closely with the Director of Sales & Marketing to achieve the hotel's revenue and market share goals. All contracted group meetings and events, excluding weddings, will be transitioned to the Convention Services Manager for planning and execution. Exempt associates are expected to work as much of each workday as necessary to fulfill their responsibilities and achieve business objectives. Key Responsibilities: Sales & Revenue Generation - Effectively attain assigned group room revenue, catering revenue, and solicitation activity goals.
- Proactively conduct outside sales calls, prospecting activities, networking events, site inspections, and client presentations.
- Solicit and secure new group business from Corporate, Association, Government, SMERFE, and Social market segments.
- Negotiate contracts and pricing to maximize hotel revenue while maintaining competitive positioning.
- Develop and grow relationships with existing accounts to increase repeat business and market share.
- Monitor and evaluate trends within assigned market segments and identify new revenue opportunities.
- Collaborate with Revenue Management and hotel leadership to maximize profitability and group production.
Wedding Sales & Catering - Serve as the primary sales contract for all wedding inquiries and bookings.
- Conduct wedding site tours and consultations with prospective clients.
- Prepare customized proposals, contracts, and catering packages tailored to client needs.
- Manage wedding business from contract signing through event execution.
- Coordinate directly with clients, banquet leadership, and operational departments to ensure successful wedding experiences.
- Maximize wedding revenue through strategic upselling of food and beverage offerings, enhancements, and additional hotel services.
Account Management & Client Relations - Maintain strong relationships with existing clients, event planners, and community partners.
- Ensure exceptional customer service throughout the sales process.
- Represent the hotel at industry events, trade shows, networking functions, and community organizations.
- Respond promptly to inquiries, proposals, follow-up requests, and client concerns.
- Maintain strong visibility within the local business and hospitality community.
Administration & Reporting - Maintain accurate account, prospect, and activity records in hotel sales systems.
- Develop a thorough knowledge of hotel operations, services, and policies.
- Prepare sales reports, activity summaries, revenue forecasts, and pipeline updates as required.
- Participate in daily, weekly, and monthly sales meetings, revenue meetings, and other management functions.
- Adhere to all company sales standards, policies, procedures, and performance metrics.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by the Director of Sales & Marketing or General Manager.
Required Skills, Experience and Knowledge: - Knowledge of Marriott Systems (CI-TY, Power of M) is preferred.
- Strong prospecting, negotiation, and closing skills.
- Excellent verbal, written, presentation, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Ability to influence decision-makers and develop long-term client relationships.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
- Working knowledge of catering and food & beverage operations preferred.
- Self-motivated, goal-oriented, and results-driven mindset.
- Local greater Orlando market knowledge is preferred.
- High School diploma or equivalent required; previous hotel sales experience preferred.
- Must have a valid driver's license for the applicable state.
- Must possess developed verbal and written communication skills to frequently negotiate, convince, sell and influence other Managerial Associates, hotel Guest(s) and/or clients.
- Experience with professional selling skills desired: opening, probing, supporting, closing.
- Must be proficient in general computer knowledge, especially Microsoft Office products, and Marriott Brand Systems.
- Must be able to work independently and simultaneously manage multiple tasks, strong organization and presentation skills
